I can't imagine them getting more than 45 minutes but both Dean Marney and Nahki Wells will play some part of tomorrow's U23 game at Forest.

Really good news and so pleased Dean Marney is still on track with his recovery.

45 mins for Marney - Wells will potentially get longer depending on how he feels

looking forward to seeing both of them in the not to distant future in the first team as options to those in the team now, competition can not be anything but good in my opinion.

Any Burnley team with Dean Marney in, is a better team.
He's a good 'en.

Great news we need all the options possible, given we will be missing Wood for at least one game, and Walters is a long-term absentee, and of course Tom.

Deano is ready for a competitive match already, but Sean and the backroom staff must be confident, he would be a useful addition around christmas, busy schedule and injuries and suspensions start mounting up around mid season.Wells should be straining at the leash to prove all the doubters wrong.

But who would you drop for them? Personally unless we get injuries or suspensions I reckon we won't see either starting or even on 1st XI bench in the near future.

Not as good as a Burnley team with Cork and Defour in it though. I can see us trying him in a midfield 3 with Defour pushed on, but he's not getting in front of either of those two when he's fit. A good squad option, but if Westwood can't get much game time I struggle to see where Deano's will come from.

Wells will be a good bench option. Especially with his added pace.

can only see deano as a late sub,or only starting if someone is injured or suspended, looking forward to seeing wells play though, good luck to both of them tommorow in the u23 game, lets hope they come through unscathed

I suspect Marney is still a considerable time away from playing in the first team again but it is good to hear that he's getting back on the pitch.

My tip is nahki wells will prove a top signing for Burnley, and many will end up looking foolish.

Didn’t Marney play alongside Cork in his first season here?

I love Dean Marney, but who would he replace in the 4-5-1?
Great to see him back though

Sadly, for Marney, I agree with you.
But it's not a reflection of any loss in Deanos ability. But, that as a team we've got stronger.
A stronger midfield, a stronger first 11 and a stronger squad.
Alls well.

Not at all. The guy is great and has proved many a doubter wrong in the past. As Ringo mentioned above though, the quality of the squad has improved a lot in recent times. Defour, Hendrick, Westwood and Cork are seriously strong competition for Deano these days and I struggle to see who's place he takes!!

Marney took it easy, but still laid on some good confident passes, wells tried hard to make something happen, but had a frustrating time really.
