Thankfully it was as the game stopped for some time. Would ruin the flow the game. How many times can teams or the ref contest or review it?

Goal line technology has been a revelation but this is a step too far and referees have been let down by players and managers who stoke up the media and fans creating total disrespect and trust of a professional referees opinion.

The day opposition managers and opposition fans can watch a video replay and agree on the decision then maybe their is merit for using video replays but we are a long way away from that being the case

Give referees a microphone like they do in rugby and let everyone hear what's being said, both by the referee and by the players to the referee. Soon enough things will change in terms of treating referees with respect.

I dont think referees should do post match interviews because they cannot lie and not comment like a manager can and it would just be a witch hunt and lead to even more disrespect for referees.

Instead why not make the managers be interviewed together and make them watch replays and answer awkward and difficult questions together. That would be a better step forward in my opinion

If that's what they do in rugby then sure. Rugby referees seem to be treated with great respect, so i think football should steal their ideas.

This is a good idea. A 10-15 minute post-match press conference (like in tennis). but with both managers.

We've all seen it on TV, clear as day what the players are saying to the ref.
If it could be heard and punished where required then it would soon stop.

Perfectly good goal now disallowed by decision system after ref gave it!

Its far too inconsistent in its use.

Too many games are changed by incorrect decisions that needs to be corrected.

Our pen against West Ham being one.

2 reviews per side would be fine.
I even think a referee could ask for clarification if he's not sure of himself.
Both codes of rugby have it spot on.

The other thing they could bring in from rugby is putting players on report. In football the award of a yellow card can't be overturned either way. Some shouldn't have been given some should be straight reds.

Id have it me. Simple wood gets a pen in the west ham game we lose too many points with silly decisions.

I think the wait is a good thing. Adds to the suspense.

As for the delay: what about the delays caused by players protesting against bad decisions? In that time, the review panel can reach a decision.

Or the delay to treat a player who isn't injured but continues to hold his leg to throw the ref of the scent that he'd dived

The problem with this is that the media companies would only want to interview them after something had gone wrong or was 'controversial'. They wouldn't interview them about all of the correct decisions that they had made or if they had a good/quiet game. This would simply re-inforce the view of refs as all being 'bad'.
