The A-Team

I've just spent the last 20 minutes watching the A-team on Channel 5. Brilliant!

For those who are in the same generation, how good did we have it when we were younger? One of the best programmes on TV when I was a kid.

What is there for kids nowadays of a simila ilk?

We had Knightrider, Chips, Airwolf, Dukes of Hazard, Blue Thunder, The A Team, Incredible Hulk to name a few.

Surely there must be something like this for kids on a Saturday tea time but I don’t recall seeing much.

Yeah Street Hawk - I see that mentioned sometimes on quiz programmes and people have never heard of it. I still remember the music and when he crashed through.

I don't remember much of Chips, I think that was slightly before my time - Just Googled - 1977-83.

Knight Rider, Incredible Hulk, definitely.

The A Team was good but it was basically the same plot every week! I think Boy George was a guest star one episode but i may have dreamt that

I've just been watching one of the first episodes aired - series 1, episode 4 (1983). All I gathered was that they were in prison as I turned on half way through. Cheesy, funny and entertaining. I bet kids of today would still love it.

I used to watch all sorts of stuff as a kid that I thought was cool.

This is the story about a man named Jed,
A poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed,
Then one day as he was shooting at some food,
Up from the ground come a bubbling crude,
Oil that is, black gold, texas T.

Next thing you know ole Jed's a millionaire,
The kin folks said Jed move away from there,
They say california is the place you ought to be,
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverley.
Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars.

The. ................. ...................! ?

And the chat shows were at their best with early Wogan and Parkinson. They weren't full of people just promoting their new film or book, en masse. Graham Norton Show half the cast is on the couch these days.

I still watch some chat shows and still think they're there because they want to be. When they aren't, they're there because like you say, purely to promote something.

Elle May was fit, then along came Daisy Duke in her hot pants, then Bay watch came on telly, oh dear! All topped off nicely with the waitresses in ello ello wearing sussies. A great days perving made better if there was a St. Trinians film on.
