Last week my wife and I spent a couple of days in a hotel called Veranda Resorts which is found at Belle Mare and found in the East of Mauritius .It has only 60 rooms having the best beach with only ripples caressing your bodies . No fear of sharks or any wild sea creatures . it has the finest white sand .
The food is superb and varies every day from Mauritian ,Indian , Chinese , Arabic ,African ,Italian and other mouth watering dishes . They are laid as barbecues and you eat as much as you want . Every night there are entertainment and not to forget the sega dance in which you are invited to make some steps . During day time you may visit places of interest such as the museum i,the race court , the fort ,the open market etc in Port Louis ,the capital city of Mauritius , the Botanical Garden at pamplemousses , the seven coloured earths which is found at a top of a mountain ,the Casela a bird exhibition ,Flic en Flac public beach ,the Fort of Grand Port where the British defeated the French in 1810 and last but not the least the "ILE AUX CERFS" which is a very touristic place . You have to bring your swimming suits as the chrystal clear water is bristling with rays of the sun and so inviting for a plunge . you may walk under the sea or go for Deep Sea Fishing . There are a myriad of activities to keep you in good entertaining mood .
i have talked to the Manager . All fans of Burnley , i underline only Burnley ,may pay the reduced rate of Mauritian tariff . you may phone me on 230 251 52 80 or write me on :
mungurbhurdwaz@hotmail.com so that i may come to fetch you at the airport to drive you to the hotel .
in the past there are many Claret fans who through my personal intervention have been privileged or those who cannot afford hotel bills may use my private sea apartment which has three rooms and all modern amenities . It will be free of charge to all my brothers of Burnley who are near and dear to me .

That is an offer that you can't refuse. Let me look at our holiday schedule for next year as we've had all our holidays for this year

I stayed in Mauritius a few years ago and met the man himself. A most generous host and a true gentleman.

I can recommend it. A lovely island. We stayed 2 weeks a couple of years back and had the most wonderful (and peaceful) time. The people there are delightful too and I only made one mistake on the trip. I didn't look up Dave, even though we were practically in the same village. Maybe next time!

I visited Mauritius 5 years ago on my hooneymoon and have vowed to go back one day (with two little ones now it will be a while).
A truly beautiful place and my regret is not seeing more of the island. Didn’t really post back then so i didn’t meet up with Dave either, but what a lovely offer he has made and certainly I can’t recommend the place highly enough.

Incredibly generous offer, Dave.
Good on yer.
However, I too will be lucky to make it to Morecambe, never mind Mauritius
due to financial constraints.
Good luck to you.

Dave,
I'm hoping that my wife and I will be able to finally have our honeymoon next year.
Is the hotel name the Veranda Grand Baie?
Can you recommend a time of year that's around 25 degree's at its max (my wife doesn't like it too hot!)
Regards
CE

Belle Mare is in a lovely part of the Island, not as touristy as Grand Baie which is in the north of the island. This is a generous offer from Dave to benefit Clarets. I can vouch from when I lived there 40 years ago that there are two often prices, locals price and tourists price.

My wife and I called into Mauritius on a cruise a few years ago and Dave arranged to meet us and take us round the island. He was true to his word and we had a great day with a lovely gentleman who we hope to meet again at some future date.
His reward for looking after us so well was a retro shirt from the 1959/60 season.
Dave, take care of yourself and hope to meet up again --my wife sends her regards.

Usually December and January are the hottest months of the year . Now we have a salubrious climate and a total absence of heat . While choosing a hotel you have to decide upon a hotel having sea breeze and not land breeze . Usually in the north where Grand Baie is to be found and Flicen Flac which is in the west are popular sea resorts, have hotter climate with land breeze ,
The east where I live have 15 hotels of international class . The four best are Touesrok ,Long Beach,St Maurice and St Geran but are very costly . Only very rich people can afford to stay there . One of our Directors of the Board ,Mr Nelson stayed at Touesrok because quite in a lonely islet he could play golf . I met him as he was recommended by the club and even took him for a tour visiting part of Mauritius . Veranda Resorts are not so expensive .A couple on full board pays about 175 pounds per night .He can enjoy all what is offered at the hotel free of charge .

Ahhh Mauritius.. Birth place of my father.. Been only the once.. Absolutely stunning with very friendly people, delicious food ice cold Phoenix beer and very moorish local rum made derived from sugar cain. My family had a sugar plantation. My Dad, Uncles and Aunties were raised in New Grove.. And live all over the island.. UTC

Glad to learn that you have family connections in Mauritius . The island is progressing fast and for sure in all fields .Work has already started for a metro express conveying passengers from Port Louis to Curepipe and other towns . . The project is very costly but part of it will be borne by India .

It's 12 years since we visited Mauritius and Dave hosted us. A true Gentlemen who showed us all sorts of places around the Island. This is a great offer from Dave, if you get the chance - take it! Mauritius is an awesome place, impecable service and fantastic climate, but with the chance via Dave to have some real local knowledge and advice it is a truly an incredible trip.

It is nice in Sepetember . Abstain from coming from May to august . The weather is about 22 to 24 degrees centigrade . The water is too cold to sim during these months .Sometimes it happens that the weather is fine during the 12 months .

Hi Dave. ColburnClaret, myself and a very large extended family are coming to your Island Paradise for a wedding in April 2019.
We are staying in Flic en Flac but any advice would be welcomed and the possibility of meeting up.
I noticed on another thread you recommended Manchester-Frankfurt -Mauritius as the cheapest flights. Would this still hold good?

Mauritius maybe the only place where all hotels provide you both breakfast and dinner as they are included the daily rate you pay . recently I have been to SEychelles and South Africa where you have to pay even for breakfast . This is tricky as the hotel owners want to make easy money at the cost of residents .
