Driveway Moss Removal

Post by starting_11 » Mon Nov 06, 2017 2:36 pm

Oh ye fonts of knowledge!

Could you advise me on the best way of getting moss off my tarmac driveway?

I spent 3 hours blasting it off earlier in the year and within 10 minutes it'd all grown back.

It's permanently in the shade and thus always damp so it's a right breeding ground for it.

Any products out there I can just chuck on?

You might have to dig it up, push your house into the shade then put the driveway into the light

I use boiling water straight from the kettle. It does the job!

Ill try the boiling watter.

If that don't work, i'll move me house over a few feet. Maybe rotate it 90 degrees.

Ah that method sounds simpler.

Jeyes fluid outdoor cleaner. Dilute as instructed, pour in a sprayer and off you go. Please read the tin properly and adhere to the instructions, it works but you have to be careful.

Wear a mask, goggles and old clothing when power-washing ;)

Wet and Forget works very well, it's not cheap but it prevents regrowth as well as cleaning.

Try luring a Predator and an Alien xenomorph to your home and then, through a spurious narrative that ends with the xenomorph being conveniently yet inconceivably placed on your driveway when dispatched by the Predator, spread the subsequently spilled acid blood using an old brush, which may get rid of the mould. I can't guarantee this works, that your driveway won't be damaged either in the battle or by the acid itself or that you won't be killed in the process. It's got to be worth a shot though.

Hands and knees, scrape out the joints. I used to spend a couple of hours a week at my old house, scraping the moss out of the driveway. Also in the growing months apply plenty of weed killer

My gardeners use a coloured chemical that gets down to the roots. The blue colour is temporary but allows you to keep dogs away from the treated areas.

By far the best solution is to use a combination of a picture of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski being placed in the area - that will clear anything.

Put some liquid moss killer on, and walk away.
Alternatively buy some lawn sand from Wilkos, sprinkle it on an walk away.

I'd never use a pressure washer on tarmac. You'll weaken it with all that hydraulic psi and it'll crumble over time

Algon is petty good, dilute to instructions and spray, but you need a dry day and remove bulk first.

It'll poison the moss back and they sell it at Wilkos. Cheap too.
