Soccerdome Parking Charge
Just got home to find a parking charge behind the door from ParkingEye
It’s from parking at the DW/Soccerdome the other week when the team I coach was playing there.
You get a “free hour” on the free carpark but should put your reg in the machine for if you’re staying over.
I was in a rush and completely forgot resulting in a £100 charge (£60 if paid in 14 days)
Planning asking the Soccerdome if anything they can do when I go back on Sunday but has anybody got any experience with these in either appealing or ignoring them

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
If you prove you were at the Soccer dome they might do something about it.
Ignoring it doesn't seem to work these days.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
Yes indeed ask Soccer Dome to cancel it.
If not just wait to see if you get a notice to keeper within 28 days.
If they wont cancel it and you do get the notice to keeper look on moneysavingexpert.com and their parking appeals forum for advice.
I would formally write to Soccer Dome rather than just asking a member of staff who most likely wont have the authority to deal with it as you hope.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
I’ve had the notice to keeper. It came today
As for “just paying it”. If it wasn’t such a disproportionate amount I “may” have just done that if it was as say £20, but £60 charge for a free carpark whilst using the facilities is ridiculous

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
Dont just pay it.
Paying it just funds legalised muggers like Parking Eye to get more victims.
Sounds like you and your team are regularly users of Soccer Dome's facilities and as such they should treat you ad s valued customer and cancel the fine.
How would feel if you forgot to bring your season ticket to a game and the club charged £60 to issue a ticket for the game. A similar sort
of forgetfulness.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
From the experience of others I know, you will get it sorted by speaking to the soccer dome. To be fair to them, they aren’t in the business of funding the parking nazis, merely in genuinely protecting their parking spaces from people who would park there and walk to the hospital.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
How much is the car park after one hour? You can appeal that the fine is disproportionate to the cost.
I appealed a ticket - the parking firm refused to budge so I took it to the regulator (POPLA?) who upheld the appeal.
I used the advice from moneysavingexpert to word the letter and reason for appeal. I think I used their 'militant' approach!
I don't think writing to Soccerdome will help as the car park is sub contracted out.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
Sounds like there maybe a happy ending.
Did you receive the notice within 14 days of parking there ?

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
Do they want your continued business? if they do then surely they'll sort this little issue out.
Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
As a starting point writing/speaking to Soccer Dome as a simple first step.
The landowner will have a contract with the PPC (Parking Eye ) and should have the final say on canceling it.
Good luck anyway

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
It is very disproportionate- it’s free whether you park for less than an hour or over an hourTheFamilyCat wrote:How much is the car park after one hour? You can appeal that the fine is disproportionate to the cost.
Parked on the 5th received today, although letter dated the 13thpaulatky wrote:Sounds like there maybe a happy ending.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
Unless there's been a change in the rules, then they can't impose a fine. They claim that by entering the car par you enter into a contract but in reality you cannot be fined because the car park is free.wilks_bfc wrote:It is very disproportionate- it’s free whether you park for less than an hour or over an hour
Go to moneyservingexpert for their guidance and it may take a bit of to and fro before you win your appeal but you will.
Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
The Beavis case would apply in this case.
There is no other revenue to the PPC and the Beavis case which went to the court of appeal the judge decided that a charge of £80 in that case was reasonable and the motorist ,Beavid ,lost.
Since that ruling a couple of years ago the £80 charhe:fine has edged up to £100.

Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
I ended up with a ccj as I ignored it! And a bill of about £400! Same place same firm
Re: Soccerdome Parking Charge
The Trampoline thing is now going on there and they've upped the ante regards unauthorised parking, busy, busy.
The facility to input your vehicle registration IS there.
You've snoozed and when you 'snooze' you lose.

On sunday mornings it is mayhem with the kid's football and was quite often told by staff at the desk there is
no need to type your registration in because of the queue of people waiting to use it ! ..
