Does anyone know the policy on selling tickets in the JHU to away fans?

The worst situation last season was Everton where it could have got nasty.

Yes we need a bigger ground because we have sold out against Arsenal. We haven't needed a bigger ground for the other home games this season.

Next week people will be moaning because they can't get a ticket for their wife/girlfriend/mate for Man U away on Boxing Day. Even though though their wife/girlfriend/mate have never been to an away game before these people will still think they are entitled to tickets at the expense of those fans who will be travelling to Bournemouth on a Wednesday night or Brighton the week before Christmas.

Oddly enough, I ended up stood behind an Everton fan in the CFS last year.

He'd obviously been invited on by his Burnley supporting mates (there was about six of them) but wasn't shy about his allegiances.

90 minutes of that ******* accent, and even being called a 'Retard' at one point, made Arfield's winner so, so sweet.

IMHO it is wrong.

Fervent fans, beer, contentious decision, that's all it needs.

The Club MUST segregate in the name of safety

They do, but there's nothing stopping either a local Everton obtaining a home end ticket by purchasing 1 from our ticket office, or a local Everton fan asking a claret pal to pick him up some tickets near to them in the ground.

How many times have Burnley fans been him home ends?

They stand out a mile, as they don't look comfortable or a natural Burnley fan, but I don't mind if they keep them selves to themselves, respect where the are or even better stay anonymous.

Why can't you watch a football match with someone who supports a different team?
You must have friends who support other teams?

They're not aliens.

That's the point. Whilst many sane fans would remain respectful, some others (not necessarily picking on Scousers here but if the cap fits) are just K-NOBS!

I agree, so if they are wanting to be knobs in the middle of a bunch of rival fans it's their decision, and they risk the consequences.
It's called knowing your audience.

You've reminded me of something now, new topic required.

The home sections compared with our official capacity were 96% sold. No, it’s not 100%, but it’s pretty high. If we sold out every week it would mean our ground was way too small for us. Selling out half the time gives the board a decision to make. I don’t think it’s far off the right size already, but if they wanted to increase it by just a couple of thousand when they eventually redevelop I wouldn’t be particularly surprised.

The atmosphere at stadiums nowadays is sterile enough as it is.

Whether people have friends who support other teams or not, come matchday, I wouldn't want anything else but that atmosphere of "us" and "them".

There's nothing I'd hate more than to sit with supporters of another team.

Leave that to the fans of the egg chasers! :D

Thousands of substandard/restricted view seats says something is broken, i am the first to say we need redevelopment but also one of the first people to say we don't need a massive capacity increase.

Our ground hasn't held more than 23,000 since 1983 and that is around the correct level for a club of our size(we have around 21,900 seats available now), what is in need of a major overhaul are the facilities and if we don't seriously think about improving the facilities while we have spare cash then one day it will be thrust upon us when we don't have a pot to **** in.

The two new stands are what you end up with when you do things on a tight budget.

Just a thought.

Huddersfield capacity is 24500, something similar for us would be fine, most of this could come from extending the bod lord back creating another 2.5k seats. A new cf stand could hold slightly more say 5k giving an overall capacity of around 25.5 k.

According to the chairman there's nothing imminently planned for any major redevelopment.

So, in the meantime, perhaps a lick of paint on the exterior of the Bob Lord stand which currently is an absolute disgrace and has been for some time.

I can only think that the directors don't look up at the area around the signage 'Burnley Football Club' (and in fact for the full length of the stand) otherwise they would be embarrassed into action.

In the fans forum, a question was asked regarding redevelopment of Turf Moor and without hesitating MG went into a long winded explanation about capacity etc and that was reason the answer is no.

People need to get into their heads that redevelopment may involve a change in capacity but the most important reason is to improve facilities, something that is a major issue going forward around Turf Moor.

My son asked me why there where so many empty seats when we watched MOTD together on Saturday. I couldn't answer that really but I think we can maybe use a bit of imagination to fill theses seats because they are the same seats near enough every time.

Also, can they not sell the bottom rows first to the away support or limit seats to the bottom rows so in other words bring the away fans further down towards the pitch if they are not bringing many. It looks embarrassing on TV when the away end is almost always empty. That's something that has shocked me tbh in the Prem is the poor away support in general.

There was an average of around 1,975 away fans at Burnley last season (2,430 allocations), and with some games player when the weather is poor why would you make fans sit at the front? the fans will always move towards the back anyway.

I wouldn't want to be forced to sit near the front at any ground, I once sat near the back of the JMU Lower and the view was appalling.

You get no perception of anything beyond 20 yards.

£50 return from Jersey , although things have started to go pear shaped now , been waiting months for a scan ,and guess what found out today it's on the 30th at 9.30 , and my flight back isn't until 2.30pm , I can't cancel scan having been waiting all this time , so looking at getting to London after game and catching first flight out , there's never anything simple in my life :(

If the simple fact is that they will not even consider redevelopment for at least 5 years, which I think is madness considering we have money now, and can design something we actually want, then fine. They need to put the external look of the ground much higher on the priority list. We’re talking hundreds of thousands, or maybe even a couple of million to revamp to outside of the two older stands. Replace the blown brickwork on the newer stands inside and out too whilst they’re at it, it looks shoddy.

The big picture is that it won’t affect the playing budget whatsoever, or take anybodies time other than Doug Metcalfe. I’m stating the obvious there before somebody says “do you want a lick of paint or a new £20m player”, like it’s only one or the other. :)

Every seat in rows behind the pillars in the two older stands has some kind of restricted view, you do realise that the 'restricted view' seats listed on the website are only categorised so if you cannot see both goals, if you can see both goals but hardly anything of the centre of the pitch that it doesn't count as such.

Add to this the front few rows of the new stands, especially the James Hargreaves Stand which are incredibly below pitch level, the view is appalling and add to this fans getting bloody soaked in these seats if it rains, wonder why seats in this prime position down the side of the pitch are usually among the last to be sold?

Yes thousands, maybe not 10,000 but certainly a considerable amount which will runs into thousands.

Turf Moor is not the cinema or the theatre but fans expectations of what is adequate for a fairly hefty admission fee have gone up since the days of standing in your own urine when going for a pee at half time in the 70's and 80's. If Burnley FC want a legacy to go with the training ground then a long term project to make Turf Moor a 21st Century ground should be high on it.

Should we be chucking £20-30 Million at it next summer? Certainly not but with the apparently seriously good chance of being in the Premier League come August 2018 we should move the plans for a constructive and well planned discussion at boardroom level forward, with hopefully continued success on the field funding the much needed improvements in the next few seasons.
