Was there any trouble post match on Saturday?

Only reason I ask is, me any the boy had waited at the exit nearing full time to get away quicker than usual Saturday, so we're one of the first off CFS. As we walked up the side of the cricketfield having gone through the gate, a group of Swansea "lads" were walking down asking people "if they were game, and wanted some"

There was only a handful of Burnley fans about, many either old or with kids getting a quick exit.

Took all my will power not to say give it 5 minutes and ask again, and you'll get your wish.
Idiots.

Was just wondering if the same lads still wanted to play when it got busier around there or in the cricket club post match.

Its the same every game after leaving the match.

You get to the gate on to the road though, and its amazing how polite everyone suddenly gets as the away fans are trying to squeeze in to the car park through the 3 inch gap left by a car trying to get out and home fans trying to squeeze through the same gap trying to get out.

Then once people are clear, the insults fly again.

The best ones are when you get home fans who cut through and walk up the crick club side of the fence getting abuse from home fans in the other side of it

It is a potential flash point should a mini bus or 2 decide to park on there.
That whole area needs to be looked at, there's so many safety issues at the minute around the cricket club, ginnel up the side of the cricket ground and Belverdere Rd.

The police were flapping about getting a white car moved that was blocking a Swansea coach in. Probably had them lads on it and they wanted shut.

Bizarrely I was in the CC when approached by a thick set 16yr old Swansea fan who had been kicked out of the game after someone smacked him in the back of the head, so smacked the back wall. He was intoxicated and thought he had broke his hand. He was pleasant enough and wanted to know the score.

The best one is the home fans given grief to the Burnley fans getting on to the Barrowford clarets bus that sometimes parks there.

Possibly, as they weren't exactly discreet or picky with their invitations, so possibly someone mentioned it to the police.

I walked up that way (on the cricket club side of the fence) and heard/saw nothing other than normal looking Swansea fans looking disappointed because their team was crap.

The traffic situation is so much better now with the traffic lights at the Wellington on red for a period after the game to allow pedestrians to get through. The cricket club is now the only problem in terms of cars coming out of there during the rush at the end of the game. They should be under the same restrictions as the football club car parks.

Fortunately we always park up Tod Road and haven't seen as much as a crossed word with a visiting fan since 1987.

I think that those new traffic restrictions on Harry Potts Way certainly helped traffic flow on Saturday.

On the basis that everyone hopes they'll never be used, it'll be a good thing.

They are not on a public highway though so the cost is nothing to do with Burnley or tax payers. Harry Potts Way is part of the club's footprint and so the cost will be the club's.

You always get a few idiots - I usually go to the crick club pre match as it's relatively trouble free but every now an then you obviously get an idiot. Watford last season had some drunken bell end Watford fan trying to pick a fight over me and my mates drinking cider ....... I just said "is it your first trip to Burnley?" 'Yeah' "I can tell".

Not my proudest moment in front of my young nephew but after 5/10 mins of him not giving it up I asked if he'd rather talk about it outside and he disappeared and didn't see him again.

Always a decent bit if banter in there usually and had a few good chats with away fans post game there too. As anywhere else though, there'll always be a few idiots.

It’s a public highway other than a match day when it becomes part of the club’s footprint from two hours before kick off. Been like that for a few years now.

I get why people think the new traffic measures on HPW are a good thing, buts it’s very blinkered. From HPW you either go up Brunshaw Road, down towards Yorkshire Street, or across past the Park View. Surely the risk of some nutter is the same past the new measures for those thousands of fans walkin* away from the ground, or are said nutters only interested in acting directly outside the main entrance of the Club?

Called in at cricket club after game, and saw this coach, we were told by bar staff that the Swansea youngsters had been making trouble before the game and Police had rounded them up before kick off and decided they were not fit to attend, kept them in CC until half time and then put them back on the coach, as a few had made the game they couldn't let coach leave, so waited till all returned after game, when they then decided to let coach leave, two cars were parked too close on exit so coach was stuck! It seemed like most of them who missed game were quite pleased Could feature on a future classic away game program!
