ASHES. FIRST TEST

Who's watching?
A fair few newish faces on show.
But it seems it's 29 years since the Aussies lost in Brisbane.
Can we cope with its famed bounce?

Feeling shattered but will try and stay up for it a bit I think. Is an odd one as I wrote us off til pretty much today - going to be a decent couple of months though.

As much as I would love do I can't see us getting at a result in Brisbane.
Hopefully my tipping is as good as my last horse racing naps league.

Yep.
Mobdro is my choice too.
Just had a long trip back north though. Not sure how long I'll last.

Your probably right, Ty.
Think my hopes are pinned on the 'Law of Averages' more than anything else.
Always considered getting a draw an achievement in Brisbane!
But can honestly say I can't remember an Ashes series when I knew so little about such a lot of players on both sides, but in particular the Aussies.

Just seen an advert on BT Sport advert for it.
“Coverage starts at 11pm, but if you can’t stay up to watch it then watch the highlights tomorrow morning at 9am”
If somebody can’t stay up to watch it, it’s probably because they need to be up in the morning to be in work before 9am

If they work then they’ll probably be able to afford a device that is able to record such a programme.
I can’t believe the irritating Matt Smith is presenting this.

Nothing to worry about so far from the Aussie bowling attack. We will have to get ourselves out like Cook did.
Conditions in England's favour with it not being as hot as normal and the pitch slower.

If these two can build an innings it will show both sides that they are test match material.

The Aussie bowling attack have bowled disciplined but not spectacular. Early signs are this 4 man attack could struggle to get 20 wkts a test unless conditions change dramatically.
Good to see Vince and Stoneman get some early runs and let's hope they go on.

The Aussies have blagged their way to a ball change and it's certainly doing more than the old one.

But because they took the new ball the umpires have called bad light.

The new rules have come into play about bat sizes, a card disciplinary system, no review reset after 80 overs while you don't lose your review on umpires call and the run out rule where if you have grounded your bat you are classed as in even if it bounces up.
The review one is good but I particular like the run out rule, as soon as cameras came into the game the 3rd umpire always spent an age checking run outs in case the bat had bounced up. I have never seen a live umpire give a run out for it happening.

Totally agree, especially as it always seemed unfair that you could be given out even though you had already made your ground. The run should be deemed complete once you touch down behind the line - as it now is.

Jeez I missed bumble and most of the sky commentators! I used to hate listening to Boycott when I was a lot younger and nowt's changed, I still want to put my fist in his mouth! I'm sorry and I know I'm going to get pebbled to death for this but it's weird listening to a women commentating on a sport. It's not as bad as when MOTD had a woman commentating on the footy but maybe it's because I'm not used to it I don't know. But she didn't really stand a chance anyway being drawn with Boycott to start with.

We used to have to watch Boycott bat in the tests etc,now that really was a cure for insomnia..
Mr Self Self Self, never played for the team only himself..

Have to agree with you about Boycott, Stew.
Don't like having to listen to him.
All that money BT spent on getting the Ashes, you'd have thought they could have arranged a comms 'loan' for Bumble!

It's always a matter of fact with him. He never says it's in his opinion or offers a theory! It's always absolute! Which is very annoying. Least with Bumble et all (well most of them) from sky you could relate to them. I'm actually surprised some of the sky commentators didn't come over to BT. Maybe they are tied in to a long contract or BT didn't actually want to spend all that money or they just wanted a different approach and thought having Boycott on board would be controversial?!
