Do we truly understand the signifance of the last 5 years
Just thinking i’ve had a few and never post on this message board but what has happened to us over this last 5 years is truly unbelievable, it really is.
I never, ever thought we could be in the position we are in now.
This football club is truly something very special!!

Re: Do we truly understand the signifance of the last 5 years
Just last week for the very first time I thought to myself, "hang on a minute, what if we actually make the top four?" I know it's not going to happen, but still...
I was thinking about the ground logistics and everything. Like, what is the CL away allocation as a percentage of the total capacity? Would the Turf even meet CL specifications? Would it even meet Europa League spec? Loyalty points etc? I know I can't make Thursday nights but can I get on the subsequent Sunday games?

5 years is a long time, it’s easy to forget just what some of the football was like and what it’s like turning up week in week out against the likes of Rotherham to a half empty ground.
My one wish no matter what happens now would be to give the team and Sean support they will never forget like Derby away in the cup.

I understand it and appreciate what the Board, the players, but most importantly, what Sean Dyche has done for us. Long may it continue.
These are our Halcyon Days. Make the most of them !

Wait for this then, are you ready? This is an example of how far we have come.
Nearly, keep scrolling...
Top four or an FA Cup win?

Personally, I will be happy with top half of the BARCLAYS Premier League
I'd also like Bolton to slip back into the 3rd Division again and stay down there with our nearest and dearest from down the M65

I can honestly say over the last10? years, since Capital Punishment, I don't normally have to explain who Burnley are.
And the first thing they ask about is Sean Dyche.

A fair point from the OP.
These are great times and they should not be taken for granted.
We've come a long way and i'm sure there's more to come.

Nail on the head. The lack of support and noise pisses me off.joburg_claret wrote:5 years is a long time, it’s easy to forget just what some of the football was like and what it’s like turning up week in week out against the likes of Rotherham to a half empty ground.

Its an unbelievable time were having, those 5 years have flown by but what a 5 years, long gone are the tuesday night away games at Barnsley, all trying to get some sort of shelter from the sweeping, cold rain in a uncovered away end. Now we can watch some of the best players in the world {including our lads of course} Truly wonderful times. We should milk it while we can, and i hope to see us watching our beloved clarets playing pl football for years to come, and of course watch the demise of our ONCE illustrious neighbours down the m65. Enjoy my fellow clarets.

Re: Do we truly understand the signifance of the last 5 years
some clubs have been better equipped to fight for promotions, bigger and wealthier , larger fanbase etc.I look at some clubs that are way below us and wonder why us and not them?
Burnley seem to have genuinley fought for , and earned the right to be where they are. Others have done it through take overs and colossal cash injections that we never had.
When we arrived via 2009 play off, it was exciting but most fans understood how difficult it would be to stay up, now we are looking like an established side, no doubt about it.
Unlike the usual teams who never seem to face relegation though, I believe our status is wholly dependent upon our current manager staying.
I dont want to look back and think "great whilst it lasted"
Must admit, i have to really concentrate sometimes and focus on just what a staggering achievement it has been to get us here.
Most of my time as a fan has been watching a small town team struggle, thesedays it is quite magical.
No idea how we plan a future to stay where we are, I would love it if the younger Clarets fans had a chance to see us playing in the top flight for several seasons.

Good post wile e, weve done it the hard way alright, all the way to where we are at present which goes to show what a fantastic manager and club we have. i too hope younger fans get the chance to see us play at this level, weve had to wait a long time for it but now its here for good.

Re: Do we truly understand the signifance of the last 5 years
It's not easy to put into context and depends how far you go back.
Certainly it could be argued that Burnley fans have witnessed a few miracles.
Getting promotion in the first place and then a second time.
Staying up and now in seventh position are all all close to unbelievable.
A massive achievement for a small club without big time financial backers.
My time goes back to the late 50's and early 60's when we were one of the
so called big clubs but that was a totally different era and we all know things
have changed enormously since then. Especially on the money side.
We need to enjoy it whilst we can. I certainly am.
It's put us on the map and we are gaining respect.
Great for the club and for the town too.

I would add a board who have been nothing other than brilliant in steering our club forward.
