Let's put it this way, had it been up the other end
and hadn't been given, there'd have been a full
scale riot.
And rightly so.

Ok. Great performance though and Mason gave them everything. Our free kick in second half was measured out in fret not yards grrr.

It was similar to Barnes in the first half but he was offside.

But then for a Rovers fan that would be a blessing

Aaron Ramsey looked like he had trodden on a land mine. They must practice these things in training

From what I saw Ramsey couldn't wait to fall over as soon as Tarks touched his back. Not sure if it was a proper push or not to be honest. Just looked like Ramsey knew what he was doing and knew what he'd get. Think Mason will be tossing himself silly over his poster of Wenger toneet!

Why the phook did Tarko push him though.. 30 seconds left on the clock you should be keeping your hands down by your side and not giving the ref any excuses to give one.. The guy wasn't even gonna get the ball anyway ..

The Barnes push was much more obvious. Soft pen. The kind that Arsenal would get but we wouldn't.

It was a penalty and the Brady challenge earlier was a clear penalty as well. That hurts,we really played well.

Barnes was offside.
Blatant and stupid pen from Tarks. Shame as we were superb.

Blatant cheating in my opinion. Though I did think Brady was lucky not to give one away earlier.

Probably just about a pen but Ramsey sold it and no way in hell it would have been given the other way. Mason reveled in his moment of match-winning glory too.

Cant be sure but i reckon Tarks stumbled forward at the crucial moment and as an instinctive reaction put out his hands which unfortunately went straight into Ramseys back

Brady's was certainly not a pen, he blocked the ball with his chest.
Ramsay was touched in the back, certainly wasn't shoved as his exaggerated dive would suggest, but can see why the pen was given.
Similar to the reason Niasse has picked up a 2 game ban- would the level of contact make his arms fly in the air and him fall flat on his face??

Yes arsenal were massively ruthless from 12 yards with only the keeper to beat. What a weapon you really are Saxo.

You might want to watch the Brady one back. He did block it with his chest after he had taken Bellerin out - it was a more blatant pen than the one that was given

Don't think Brady's was a pen. I think he got a touch on the ball before he touched Bellendin!

I've only seen it from this angle
https://streamable.com/ea733" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (as I couldn't tell what happened from the JHU) but to me it's clear Tarks has a hand on ramsey. Now having a hand on him alone isn't a foul, and he looks like he's thrown himself to the ground regardless, but if it's a shove from Tarks, then by the letter of the law it can be given as a foul.
But I'm still not 100% sure either way mind.

Some real Mr Magoo's on here.
It's clearly not a shove or push.
Tarky's right foot hits the back of Ramsey's leg.

He puts his hands on his back would be difficult for anyone apart from the two players to know how much force was applied so either a stonewall pen or not a pen at all. Unless it's an offense just to touch someone's back.
Likely that there was some force applied so at least a shove - enough to impede but not preventing a goal scoring chance (as Ramsey had no realistic chance of heading the ball) - would like to see these given as indirect free kick but that's not the law so penalty probably correct.

The words "seen them given" apply here.
Mind, the "we'd never have got that decision at the other end" does as well
But it silly to give the ref a decision to make

Was the ball not destined for his head? If he was never going to head it anyway then it shouldn't have been given for me.

So why does Wenger say Ramsey felt a 'strong push' in his back?

Ramsey needs to be seen by the club doc, worst case of vertigo I have seen for a long time. His arms flailed all over the place as he lost his balance, poor chap - it can be quite debilatating.

Here's what happened from this stream...................

Tarky has his arms around Ramsey. Tarky's right foot as he's moving hits the back of Ramsey's leg which makes him fall into Ramsey.
Ramsey is already on his way down anyway.

Mr Arsenal Wrighty has just said on Radio 5 it wasn't a penalty, it was very soft, and Arsen would have gone mad if it were given against Arsenal

I’ve said it in another thread, Sean Dyche should invite the media to a training session where Burnley players are paracting falling over in the box when they feel contact.
Then watch the Premier League lose their **** over it.

I'm not sure he said that. He said he wasn't surprised it was given today, meaning he thinks we were up against 12 men, which we were. Mason was dying to give them something all afternoon. The inconsistencies in his decisions were all related to the colour of your shirt.
They were allowed to tackle from behind where we weren't. They were allowed to show dissent where we weren't. They were allowed to miscontrol the ball with their hands where we weren't. He was happy to keep giving us free kicks on the half way line to even things up but overall he only had eyes for one team today.
I've watched the penalty back from several angles and can't make my mind up. It's minimal contact and I don't think Ramsey had a hope of getting the ball because he was ahead of the game. Tarky has his hands up though so he's giving Mason the chance to make a decision. If we got one like that I'd be delighted, but I'd also know it was very fortunate.

Correct. He wouldn't have given it at the other end though.
But this should not mask a good performance by us and not detract from the fact Arsenal are a very very lucky team.

It seems that placing your arm/hand on someone in the box is enough to be called a penalty if you dive hard enough for it and are wearing the right shirt, so yes. It was a penalty*
*only if you're a big club though.
