Not sure if many would have known my mum, Helen Strahan nee Swift, but sorry to say she passed away at the age of 59 on Wednesday after a short battle with cancer (AML to be precise).

Funeral is at 1:40 on Tuesday 12th December at Burnley Crem with wake tbc

She did go on a few games with me, althought didnt always quite "get it". Not sure what else to say really.

Sorry for your loss.
Had my father and mother -in-laws wakes at Plumbe St Miners club and they looked after us well.
Was a while ago though so not sure what it's like now.

Not sure if it's big enough but Michelle and her staff at Craven Heifer at Harke Syke wouldn't let you down.

Sorry for your loss Zikov. Cancer is incredibly cruel especially when it happens so quickly, I lost my mother in law in just 3 months from diagnosis. Horrible, our thoughts are with you.

It is indeed. Jonjack and I lost our mum last week. She didn't recover from an operation for pancreatic cancer. Irony being that she didn't know she had cancer and the operation itself was completely successful.

Horrible disease, condolences to you all.

Lost my mum to it a year ago on Tuesday and it's only recently that I've been able to start thinking of all the good times without her cancer being in my thoughts

With time you won't allow that dreadful disease to cast a cloud over your memories of her too

Sincere condolences. My mum, who was 81 but at least 10 years younger in mind, attitude and activity level, was taken just over a year ago by it and it felt, and still does, totally unjust. Your mum lives on in you and any kids you have.

So sorry to hear of your loss Dan, cancer is a terrible disease. Took my father aged 36 when I was just 9 months old and my brother 7.Lpst many other family members to it since.

I’m aware my first post at the top of this thread looks like a sales pitch but it was in reply to a different thread that I assume was merged with this one. Looks insensitive at best now.

Apologies.
