I think the win yesterday has tipped the balance. I don't think we'll finish where we are now, and expect more like a 12th finish, but with the points needed now to be expected to stay up, I think we'll be fine.

Reckon we'll be up by xmas.

I currently see the table in 3 parts.

You have the current top 6, who you'd expect to finish top 6.
You then have us, Leicester, Everton, Watford, Southampton and possibly Huddersfield who will be expecting a mid-table finish.
Finally, you have the rest who I think will have an eye on the bottom 3 for the remainder of the season.

Beat Stoke and we'll be looking at the top 3.

If Leicester can finish 1st we can finish top 6

I can't imagine Huddersfield are looking at anything other than 17th.

Yes I'm looking at the bottom three all the time, and then laughing.

If we can win on Tuesday passing 30 points will be a huge psychological boost ahead of the Christmas programme. Being in a safe position in January should also have a positive impact on our transfer dealings. We also keep picking up points despite a succession of injuries to key players.

In other words, it's going to have take several things all to go wrong to really derail us. The way the club is managed and run very difficult to see that happening.

Incredible season so far. Keep thinking it's going to unravel when we get injuries, but the players coming in are completely trained and prepared to fit the framework.

I'm 95%ish sure we'll stop up and avoid doing a Palace in the second half of the season. Feels good wanting the top 6 to drop points to the bottom half though.

I was a critic of Dyche. Now I'm not and I never will be again, he's delivered our best season of football in the modern history of the club.

I will always be keeping an eye out on the bottom because we are far from it.

I've seen those dark days in the 80's with crowds of less than 2,000 and having to throw money into a bucket to sign a striker.

Belt and Braces job in January, ensuring that all positions are covered for further injuries or suspensions. Staying in the Premier League is paramount.

Anything better would be an unbelievable bonus.

Keeping our manager might be another story.

Again I was one questioning Dyche's style of play and lack
of adaptability, however he is ever so subtly evolving our side. Now whilst the football we play isn't exactly fast and free flowing we seem to have our moments whilst still being solid.

Apart from the top 6 I can't really see us having huge problems with anyone else in any game so long as we are on it.

We seem to have a whiff of our title winning season about us.

We’ve seen before what can happen when this team is on a roll. Who was the bloke we all laughed at in the Championship season when he said we would go the rest of the season unbeaten?

Can’t see that happening at this level, and I reckon City are probably out of sight, but I genuinely believe that anything else is possible.

Apart from the current top 6 I look at the league and the teams below is and think “we can win against them”

Even most of the top 6 I’m thinking “we can get a point”

I think the league is split into 3. Those above us at the moment, those below us, and us.

I think it’s more likely we will finish in the top 7 than the bottom 3

I avoid looking at the league table.


Like other stuff in League One, it is giving me the horn, which isnt good at my age.

We can't get too carried away. Tuesday night is another huge game, as is Saturday at Brighton. If we can take 4 points from those two it will be a very productive week on top of the Watford win. It'll also take the pressure off our 4 home games over Christmas and into January; Spurs, Liverpool, City and United. The more points we can get on the board now the better!!

There will be a blip at some stage but the difference between now and previous campaigns is the way we deal with things. Coming off the disappointment of the Arsenal defeat, this group of players rallied and handed Bournemouth a lesson in football then kept in the game at Leicester right to the final whistle.

We have also managed to keep a 1-0 lead more times than I can ever remember!

I was concerned before the season started that we would be hovering around the bottom 4 or 5 because of the teams we were playing away at the start and then the same at home pre and post Christmas. We have done so well now I am confident we will not be worried about relegation at all this season.

In this league it's all too easy to go on a winless run. I tend to look at the conference where they've played more games and work out where we'd be in that league. Right now it's 14th one point above 16th. They've played 5 games extra.

Christmas is the half way point and a good place to look at the position. We'''ll have played spurs twice and man u not at all but that's not a lot of difference. There will be a lot of spending by some of the bottom half in January so I'm just hoping we get out of th e transfer window without losing somebody key.

That said, west ham, palace and Liverpool for the drop please. If we can go down, so can they.

The longer we carry on playing and performing as we are, the less likely that players will be enticed away. I'm sure Tarks will be very aware of what has happened to Keane - and thinks that went well didn't it! Hero to zero almost over night. It has to be a very special time playing for the clarets at the moment and playing under a special manager.

I'm thinking right now that it will be around 36 points maximum to stay up meaning we need another 8 points. We will not be in any danger but it will be interesting to see where we are after the Man City game on 3rd Feb. We'll still have 12 games left but will have played all of Liverpool, Man City, Man United and Spurs twice.

The Stoke game is massive. If we win tomorrow I think the team will feel they are in touching distance of safety and they will play with more confidence, knowing the future is assured. Still think at least 40 points will be needed.

Lot of arrogance on this thread. Aim at 40 points and achieve ASAP. Set a new target. Maintain the performance mentality of over performance as the benchmark, and keep the humility

History says 40 points is very rarely required (just look at the tables) so why do people keep saying we need at least 40 points every season?

More like 38 points will be enough.
