He told sky sports. I thought we have been very good in keeping players in January in the past.

I'd be more worried if Wales had qualified for the World Cup.

Do we have any idea who wants away? I thought we had a squad where the team spirit and morale level were very high, and, as a general rule, in this situation people don't want to leave.

Unless a few on the fringes, who are not playing, want away. Eg. Vokes, as stated above? (I'm only surmising this.)

I think he was doing no more than speaking generally - pointing out that if a big club came in for one of our players, such as Everton did with Michael Keane with an offer that blew ours out of the water, then it might be difficult to keep them.

The downside to doing so well unfortunately.

I've seen comments elsewhere from fans of other clubs suggesting their manager coughs up £50 million combined for Tarks and Mee, that's how highly other fans are starting to rate them.

What they don't think about is the rest of the framework that looks after them.

1) Victims of our own success.

2) No need for panic if we were crap.

I prefer the former.

I think our two centre halves (Mee and Tarks) are the ones who may be 'wanted' by others.

WBA in particular if Evans moves on (which looks likely). I'm not sure why someone would leave us for WBA anymore though?

I think we can turn down anything under £30,000,000 for Mee or Tarkowski (indidually/ not as a two for one)

Arfield and others on the fringe we'd probably take anything over £5,000,000.

Just being honest. If people choose to read anything in to it, feel free. I won't be losing any sleep over it.
Considering we will bring players in in January, someone will have to go. I like the squad size the way it is. The best thing is we aren't in desperation mode, either to sell or buy, so what will be will be.

In SD we trust.

I can see people wanting Ben Mee, that's a no brainer. But does anyone really think that Ben would WANT to go to WBA......... Whatever they offered him.

Keane's abject failure?
Bit harsh when the rest of the team around him were complete toss.

Sam will sort Keane and the rest of them out.

Tarks is going to be in big demand.he has been immense as a defender and a footballer.

If Liverpool had any sense they would sign Tarks and VanDyck.

we are still a smaller club in this particular topic and for footballers money is what they want the majority of time as do everyone but hopefully the unity and being happy going to work will also count for something. For some winning trophies will be a big pull so depends which club, instinctively going to Liverpool sounds attractive where going to WBA does not (IMO)

However if they go, despite what many moan about, we seem to be able to find good replacements cheaper the majority of times and this is good since we are still a selling club in reality. Just a nice way of packaging it, as long as Sean doesn't go then I am happy he will sort it and we will still be in this division when the new season kicks off next August.

Not if you had seen VanDyke at Southampton when Vokes and Barnes came on. He really didn't want to get stuck in.

Maybe referring to Marney. Upset at not being on the bench in front of Ulvestad on Saturday.

He's not said anything.

The opposite would be 'I promise players will leave'.
He doesn't know.

Vokes, Ulvestad, Long, Westwood and even Taylor. None of them are first team starters and only Vokes and Westwood are picking up a few minutes here and there.

The appeal of Champs League and the bonus at season end, should clinch it! We would sell, if new contract refused perhaps.

Ben Mee is 28, his next contract will be his last big one. If a Mid to bottom table club, say WBA, offer him twice what We do and 4 years instead of 3 he would be a fool not to take it. Anyone not wearing Claret tinted glasses would tell him to go.

Some varied comments on this one. Personally apart from the obvious stupid money why would anyone leave us at the moment for a club like, for instance, WBA? We are knocking on the door of Champions League (okay we might not sustain it but at the moment we are in that position and, as someone pointed out over the weekend, it's not just after half a dozen games, we are nearly half way through the season) whilst WBA are struggling and could be playing Championship football next season. The same is true of West Ham (that famous fake 'big club' who actually have never won much at all) and a number of other so-called big clubs. Yes the lure of the big six cannot be easily overcome but at the moment any of our players leaving us for anyone else would be going for nothing but money. The bigger picture would be if we did by some small miracle make Europe this season, even if only Europa League, then they would have a bigger stage to display themselves on would they not?
I don't think we can read anything into Dyche's comments for two reasons: A. Sky Sports hate us and will try to do us down whenever they can because we don't fit the PL mould and B. Dyche is always making strange and ambiguous comments, it's his version of Fergies 'mind games'.
Someone pointed out that we have a number of fringe players who may be unhappy, sorry to point out the obvious but so do every other PL club and then some in most cases. Every weekend there are dozens and dozens of excellent players not getting a game, it's the nature of the large squad syndrome in the PL.

I notice the capitalised letters - as in the Godlike 'HE'. Absolutely agree though, I think we could do okay with a team of dustbin men as long as the man is in charge. Here's to tonight and (hopefully) being 4th in the PL (at least for 24 hours or so).

Depends how much he loves money, really. Picking some random numbers, if someone is doing what they really dreamed of doing all their life, and is doing brilliantly well and is universally acknowledged and has the best boss he can imagine, and has £5m in the bank - you're saying he would be a fool if he didn't go somewhere where he is less popular, may not be allowed to continue playing, may not like his boss, and may not be happy - but will have £8m in the bank?

Money isn't everything - especially when you've already got loads of it. WBA won't offer Mee enough to make him want to go.

Most clubs can easily double our players wages.

If a player chooses to either join or stay with us it's due to Dyche or our league position.

As much as i like to see all the improvements the club has made, there comes a point when the board has to accept that the TV money is only there for the benefit of the viewer, so we should be spending virtually all of it on the staff.

The start to the season has been awesome.

Would be sad to see all the good work undone when its looking like we are good for at least another season in the top flight, will be happy once we go through the 40 point mark. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later.

Surely we should be looking to improve contracts for all the first team players who have done so well this year.

Micheal Keane has proved that sometimes the grass isn't always greener, althought he wage packet bigger perhaps.

Great to see the 4-5-1 working so well also and the horrible away form of last season banished and the god awful 4-4-2

Nick Pope has been immense too, UTC

With our league position it’s a real opportunity to attract good players not the other way round ,
I thought we had moved on from this small club mentality

I suspect most of the squad will be on a large bonus if we maintain Premier League status, weekly salary must have increased considerably in the last 2 seasons, any player also knows if they impress ala Tarks a big move may await.

Everybody is so worried about people leaving. Mark my word. We'll be adding to the squad in the window, not deleting.
