The first match I attended at Turf Moor. I travelled up from Malta for a computer course in Birmingham and extended my stay to come to "Mecca". Got my pic with the late Brian Miller and Jimmy Mac in the Burnley Express.

Have just returned from the great Watford win :D :D

Pretty sure me and my brother attended every home game that season. It struck me the other day that since I began watching us in 1985, it has been a pretty much relentless drive up the leagues. Yes we stalled occasionally but so many good times along the way. Not many supporters of other clubs can say that. And now, well just plain WOW UTC

One game which always springs to my mind (my memory isn't what it was), can't remember the year or the score (there's the proof) was versus Darlington. The game was headlined by the Burnley Express as "the cauldron of hate". Does anybody remember that one?

Didn't miss a home game all through the eighties but cannot remember this one in particular unlike the season before. Always went in the Longside which was more of a huddle in those days.

Was that the same day of the Hillsborough disaster? It's before my time but I have family tell me about that day and it kicking off in the beehole end I think it was. Seems to fit the description of 'cauldron of hate'

The game v Darlington was the same day as Hillsborough. Darlo were already relegated and had been causing trouble at a few grounds. Kicked off in The Longside and CF stand. The trouble died down as the seriousness of what was unfolding in Sheffield was being relayed by those with portable radios.

That match against Hereford was the first time the club filmed the match to sell in the club shop on VHS. It was an awful game and I don't think they sold a single copy.

I can tell you what music was playing at half time if you like?

‘Always on my mind’ by the Pet Shop Boys, and it’s one of my memories of my first full season as a Claret. The home game versus Bolton previous (not sure about the cup gam the prior week), despite the track not being officially released, I also seem to remember it played?

I remember more about my first few seasons than I do last week now. Anyway, young kid, freezing cold, Bovril (it was amazing and I still only drink it on match day), the sweet pipe tobacco smells (nobody smokes pipes any more!)...I can picture them as though I was still there.

The game was crap by the way. :)

It was much ado about nothing tbh.

Had the opportunity to go to watch the merseyside derby but I declined the offer as Burnley were at home to Hereford. Remember Ian Britton rounding the keeper and falling over.

Re the Darlington game, about 10 came in the Longside and got a kicking and the police moved them onto the bed hole for their safety. They got another kicking on the bee hole. Never forget one lad giving it the big one at the fence and a half eaten meat and potato pie thrown from 30 yard away hit him flush in the face!

I remember the 6-1 home defeat. I won a raffle prize and was in the directors box that day.
Very sad times to be a claret. You stick by your team come what may, eventually your hard work and loyalty pay off.

Well thats how I see it

Just a dress rehearsa, he was saving himself for greater things

Actually for that season that was a very good attendance.
