Excellent read, talks a lot of sense. Brighton would do well to heed his advice. Hughton is a good manager. I expect him to stay there for a few more years yet. However, I can’t see Swansea hanging on to Clement for much longer!

These articles admiring Dyche, the Burnley set-up, club ethos etc continue to come fast and thick in the national media. Rosenior makes a lot of sense, clearly likes what is going on at Turf Moor and his tale of playing for Hull's reserves at Gawthorpe with SD bellowing in his ear is a good one.

Bob Paisley used to refer to this kind of thing as "giving them some toffee" not that I disagree one iota with the sentiment

I happened to catch Rosenior on one of Sky's 'Debates' and he comes across very well, articulate and looking to future managerial posts. Most impressive.

This regular column he has done in the Manchester Guardian this season has been very good - not one poor effort

Was it not Rosenior who had some less favourable things to say about us in playoffs when he was at Reading?

The article pretty much sums up whats been posted on here over the time and what we all know.
How many other clubs would have given a manager the time I wonder.

It is a good article and pinpoints a lot of Dyche and Burnleys strengths, of course it omits some of our weaknesses as a club like the inability to bring players through the ranks, by the need for us to be a buying club, and the fact that we do not have a great wealth of young talent bubbling underneath, the fact that recruitment n the overseas market has by and large been poor other than when Belgian Claret alerted the club to potential talent, and that of course could easily have worked out so differently.
This is a project which is not secure, it will only be so when we have a supply of young talent demanding attention for a place in the first team.

Impressive. Easy to identify a young man looking beyond his playing days and a shoe-horn into a new career as a journalist/pundit

With the top 6 and Everton sucking up every reasonable schoolboy it can't be laid at the clubs door for not bringing through talent.
The situation with foreign players is difficult. For every super player who come over there is a turkey. We are not in a financial situation to take that risk.

The " weaknesses " that you identify were present prior to Sean Dyche's appointment and have been addressed, or are in the process of being addressed. The acquisition of Academy 2 status earlier this year and the expanded scouting network are proof positive of this. In the interim, Dyche has been highly successful in picking up undervalued or under performing players, usually from the fringes of other Club's squads, and fashioning them into a team, that is matching and in many cases beating more " Illustrious " teams....
As ever, to paraphrase P.G.Wodehouse, it's never difficult to distinguish between a post from " ablueclaret " and a ray of sunshine !!!

What a load of horsesh*t. If you are not satisfied now you never will be and would be better supporting another club.

The article is very good. I always remember Graeme Souness ( who I've never liked) commentating on one of our games in a previous season. He was criticising the way Dyche was talking about the project and being involved in the training ground development instead of short term results. How wrong he was.

That piece goes a long way towards explaining why Sean is still here and not elsewhere where he would never be able to have such influence in all aspects of the club's progress geared towards the ultimate aim of transferring all of that into results on the pitch.
The word weakness was mentioned above. SD came in with the club struggling in the Championship with no infrastructure to support football being played at a higher level than that. His success was achieved more quickly than anyone could have imagined. We now need to be geared towards establishing ourselves in the PL. I'd much rather have SD building all of these areas like the development the facilities, the emergence of younger players and a European scouting network in his own image - with very clear objectives.
They're not weaknesses, they're opportunities to develop areas that didn't exist. From a managerial perspective that's probably a unique opportunity in top flight football and not something anyone would give up lightly.

abc, If you could just point us at the top flight academy that's churning the talent out, perhaps we could follow their model.

Is this fellow Leroy's son? He's a very accomplished writer. I'd just read the article online and then saw this link, but thanks CT.

The part about the reserves is very interesting. Dyche is known to be a big fan of the way they do things at Barcelona and one of the things they do there is get the reserves and youth teams playing exactly the way the first team does so there is no big shock to them when they are introduced. It seems, on a much smaller scale of course, that Dyche is implementing a sort of Barcelona model at Burnley and it appears to be working a treat. All we need now is some good youngsters and I'm sure given time that will happen.

There has been a lot of these articles now on various media from different ex footballers or journalists. So everyone is aware of the phylosohy and long term plan that Sean Dyche is building at Burnley football club. The odd thing for me is that no one else is copying it.

I suspect that's because most club owners (and fans) are very impatient and demand instant results.

They can't copy our plan, because our plan is a 2-stage process.
1. Appoint Sean Dyche.
2. Wait for success.
Step 2 would be easy. It's step 1 that can't be copied.
