Has taken Lukaku out of his back pocket and returned him to Jose yet?

Going to get slated for this, he had a good game today but still worried me slightly with some of his positioning - something I think he'll improve on with more game time. Cleared the lines from long balls and set pieces brilliantly though.

for his game experience he has done excellently at this level - the quality of the work at Gawthorpe is amazing - who would have though Long would be so comfortable at this level

We did well but today I noticed that Lukaku does not have one patch on Harry Kane. They are worlds apart.

He really is proving to be the perfect back up. who better would be happy to have been sat on the bench and worked hard for so long?
Tarkowski's experience doing the same and slotting in can't be underestimated.
I, for one, certainly owe him an apology as i frankly had no faith in him, and he has proven me completely wrong

Good call. Today we needed the "real Burnley" ie men who put their heads in where they risk getting a good kicking. Kevin Long showed he can play in a SD Burnley team.

If Lukaku has a 24' penis .......
Long must be living up to his name.

Sad that my thread after the last defeat stating that he was a good player and just needed time to bed in with Mee was deleted by the moderators it's as if they didn't want him to succeed.
Well done Kevin and shame on all the detractors.

He's been pushing for MOM for a few that I sit with a couple of weeks but he isn't fashionable - Great player coming in in tough conditions.

It's almost as if SD is a better judge of a player he sees in training every day than some of the posters. Only some, mind.

Responded well after a very difficult evening on Saturday. Deserves plaudits as does the whole team.

It was really pathetic the comments the other day,a lot of people on the ratings thread put ‘out of his depth’! The guy came in out the cold previous and contributed to three straight clean sheets! He could not of done anything more previous.People should not be shortsighted we are Burnley, and this lad fights as much of the rest of them! He was magnificent today not every week come across a record breaker in Kane.

Though he wasn't great against Spurs, you have to bear in mind that Kane put in one the best displays of how to be a modern centre forward I've seen.

The way people write players off is ridiculous, you don't get to this level without being decent.

Remember that was the first time he had played with Mee, he has usually been paired with Tarka, it takes time to become a partnership even when you are playing with the best.

Meanwhile you're the polar opposite and tell us all players like Aygei are the ones to save us...

What is there to think?
Tarks was signed as a centre back, has excelled as a centre back and will move on eventually.
During that time Long has been sat picking up a wage quite happily whilst others have come in, played and moved on with their careers.
I appreciate what Long has done this season, but he will go back being 3rd or 4th choice soon enough.

We haven't got a player who couldn't play at this level and now we have several who could get into many sides outside the top 6. Long has proved himself to be a more than effective Championship player and has made the step up to the Premier League pretty well.
Spurs was a poor defensive performance by the team, that is how we play that is how at times we fail. You'll always get pressure points when a side is under duress.

Played very well, deserves our support and respect. There absolutely should be anther quality Centre Half in our squad, though. Needs to be addressed in Jan.

Has someone hacked abc's account?
All seems to be positive, unless they're hoping an inform Long results in Tarks playing CDM or we go 3 at the back??

Sean rates him. Sean gave him a new contract when he was injured. Sean has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know. That will do me.

More likely in O'Neill's Ireland squad, I would think.

Well done Kevin Long, his recent contributions to our final points tally completely off sets his wages. Not forgetting after the 11 that start you still have to pay the wages of the rest of the squad and given 6 at OT would not be automatic starters (Pope, Bardsley, Long, Taylor, Arfield and Barnes) we are doing absolutely brilliantly. I am chuffed and proud in fact I am as proud as any Claret in Proudsville....

Wonders how much HE might be worth given the fact that Liverpool are reportedly paying £75m for Virgil Van Dijk.
