U2 make music for people who don't like music

Early U2 - October, New Years Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree - very, very good, a raw, proper rock band. What came later was a bit naff.

Bono complete with orange sunglasses, running around the planet like some latter day saint hasn't helped.

U2 used to be a very good band. They are around the 60 years old mark now and their music reflects it. Age means that they can't play their earlier stuff anywhere near as well as they used to, but having been a fan of theirs over many years, I can understand where they're at.
I haven't heard a song from them for quite some time that has the impact of their earlier stuff, but like the Rolling Stones, Queen, etc . they've done enough in their time to be regarded as one of the world's biggest bands.

Very good musicians some great songs some not so. If they still bring pleasure to people what harm done ?

Sorry, Pstotto, but I'm not aware of the BBC's "we" used to indoctrinate me politically. Give a few examples to give at least a hint of what you're talking about.

I think we all accept that MOTD can be pi££-poor for any Clarets fan but to me its no better nor worse than BT or Sky's offerings.

Do you not watch BBC drama ? Light entertainment ? Attenbrough and Co ? Never listen to radio ? None of these, just as a matter of principle ?

You're probably so blinded by the hypnographics of the BBC that you don't even notice. Can you tell when one program starts and another finishes? The BBC's 'we' is used so insidiously that most folk are not aware of it. Obviously I don't tape the BBC and collect examples.

One example I do remember: 'Do you remember how our minds were programmed to see such and such and now our minds are programmed to react to this and that' etc. (no kidding.) I can't remember the subject but I remember the content.

Also:

Friend in pub: "It's funny how we're all now addicted to Danish crime dramas...etc."
Me: "Errr.... No? I don't watch them."

If you watch MOTD tonight, as an unecessasry graphic link, they 'roll' a massive computer graphic 'football' type object into view. What they do is bring it from a mid-space position very much to the forefront of the screen so that if it were in your room it would fill the space and probably knock the viewer over.

It's a utilization of an old cinematic trick where during the first days of cinema they filmed a locomotive coming at the screen and in some cases the audience were so convinced by the image that they all ran out of the cinema, fearing that there was an actual train coming at them. VR is convincing in a similar manner. The effect of this graphic football symbol 'coming at the viewer' is to subduct the viewer by forcing their psyche into a state of introspection via this mind control device, via crushing the consciousness space of the psyche. I think it's pure evil and partly responsible (and the rest of the CGI barrage) for 1 in 4 are now suffering mental health issues as stated on Football Focus, today.

I do watch BBC programs and MOTD, the news etc. and BBC4 and 2 with my dinner or if i'm bored but there's only so much BBC piano music one can stand. Blue Planet 2 was interesting but the music got so much I had to switch over.

I generally can't stand any drama on TV, the acting is usually awful, or it's filmed at dog height through a toilet roll.
