If animals didn't eat vegetation, the vegetation would die or die back anyway and release its carbon into the air that way. Giving up meat and slaughtering all the animals wouldn't really help much; especially as animals are usually considered to be good things to have on planet earth.

Yep. I watched Cowspiracy and thought I’d give it a go. I’ve found it remarkably easy. I’m down to approximately 2 portions of fish a week- the rest as good as vegan.

I do occasionally eat a donner kebab though and are lots of pigs in blankets ok Christmas Day.

No offense taken buddy, we don't use anything using palm oil in our house anymore. This has caused as outrage taking Nutella off the menu.

What will be the environmental impact on getting rid of the cow, pig and sheep carcasses? Or do the dogooders seriously think all the farm animals will be left to live out their lives, waited on hand and foot, until old age carries them off?

Tonight we are having a recipe of original KFC chicken strips. Not sure you can tell it from the one you buy but made at home and it’s amazing.

It takes as much if not more acreage to grow veg than the equivalent meat. Plus and more importantly humans are designed to be omnivores as we have both incisors & molars

Check out: Pasture for Life and Holistic grazing management. These are methods of producing high welfare products, good for the environment and consumers. Complex subject mind. Palm oil production is another major problem. Anyroad, with Trump in charge I don't think there's too much to worry about with regards to the environment :/

Most of the grass land around here cannot grow veg. I have an allotment and loads of crops fail each year due to our climate of loads of rain and little sun.

If we all turned veggie what would we do with the land around here??

This is where I am at the moment. I've been responsible for 90% of our own meat consumption for a while now. Pigs and chickens.

I don’t think everyone has to stop eating meat full stop, but I think it’s undeniable that the developed worlds eats far too much meat and given the current rates of population growth it’s totally unsustainable

We buy our meat from longcauseway, trading.

They are open first Sunday of each month 10 till 2 . Drive past the Turf and turn left at the Kettledrum, there’s normally a sign across the road. Go past the houses and up the hill. As you are going up the hill the road bends right and you will see a sign on the left pointing up a farm track. Go up there and second left.

Free range lovingly reared pigs, sheep, cows and sometimes chickens and ducks.

According to the Carbon Trust, one has to use an artificial Christmas tree for ten whole years before it makes less of an enviromental impact than ten real trees.

I've cut meat out almost entirely in the last year and it's been pretty easy. I'll still have a kebab if I'm steaming drunk and in the kebab zone or if I'm eating out and we're going somewhere with really awesome meat then I'll get involved, but it'll be once a month now I'd guess.

Typical cheap meat in day to day food is shite, bland, tasted it before and it's often not really the bit of the meal I'm getting the enjoyment from, e.g. swap meat for veg in a curry and it's just as good. Been cooking and enjoying my food a lot more since.

If you eat a plant based whole food diet you'll live longer. Beyond that you're trading life expectancy for your chosen poisons - be that alcohol, meat or whatever. The more animal and animal fats you can replace in your diet the better.

Yes, I cut back on Meat about 5 years ago, and environmental impact was the main reason

nearly fully veggie now, odd sausage sandwich when hungover, veg just doesn't cut it then! Nearly cut Diary out, (as Diary cows are actually a bigger GHG contribution than Beef cows, and the process is just a bit weird).
