Beware the new Burnley Aldi, near the Turf.

Me and the other half decided that we would start our Xmas shop at the new Aldi on the 22nd Dec. Never been before but thought it fits with the route as we were going to the garden center and then the club shop for presents.

Today we received a parking ticket for the 17th when we apparently parked there from 1:23am until 8:34 am. Now based on the fact it’s not open until 8am, did they think I sat there waiting for six and a half hours for it to open. Now I know in reality we were not there as me and the other half had had a few sherbets that Sat. Two bottle of white wine each so neither of us drove there.

So beware there may some scams around this new Aldi.

Just wondering if any other clarets have heard any issues with the new store??

Just bin it - probably not worth the paper it's written on.

My mate got done by this camera but was able to prove through CCTV at work that his car was in Padiham at the time it was supposed to be at Aldi.
Apparently there was a problem with the cameras and when the contractors fixed it, it did something to the clock. If you go in to ALDI and speak with the manager they will be aware and arrange for it to be cancelled.
Bit annoying mind as they are aware of the problem so they should have just stopped any tickets going out.

Andy - ignore the letters and if it comes to it enjoy yourself laughing them out of court.

They will have to provide photo / digital CCTV recording evidence of your car being parked there which it clearly wasn't.

Go in and speak to the manager (paul) the cameras are run by an external company, it is obviously an error on their cameras he will contact them and cancel your ticket

Do this and you'll be in receipt of CCJ you didn't know you had. These parasites have 6 years in which to take you to court.
You cannot now ignore these invoices (That's what they are, speculative invoices)
The law has changed. There's a Facebook page with experts who will help you fight it.

"Fight your private parking invoice "

Go there asap!

When you go in to talk to the manager don't whatever you do stray into the centre aisle, unless you want a Bluetooth Snow Blower that converts to a Deck Chair.

Most supermarkets here are like Aldi and i'm all for it. Who exactly do you think is paying for all the bells and whistles in a big 4 supermarket?

I love Aldi. We had them in Kentucky when I was CharlieinKentucky, but not in New Mexico or West Texas. Might be easier to pop over to Juarez but i'd probably have to pay import tax on my strange German biscuits and Polish rugelach

Well Lowbank let me tell you we had a problem here with parking.
We received a ticket to say we overstayed in November. As we were in Australia at the time we obviously disputed, sent proof that we were in OZ at the time. They still continued to pursue us, so I wrote and then spoke to the Manager at Aldi (Paul) who was helpful and got it cancelled. Not without having a reminder and a letter from Parking eye disputing my claim at first.

I've been in an Aldi and I would consider myself to be middle / upper class gentry. I didn't buy anything as none of it matched my high standards of snobbery.

Holmes Street clicked on a bit further...

perhaps this explains the erroneous parking tickets...???

The store manager may not be able to do anything as the cameras will be run by an external company, but worth a try.

Take a look at moneysavingexpert.com there is a lot on there about these private parting invoices. Certainly don't pay it as you wont get your money back and don't respond without seeking advice.

Chances are they will follow up with a few more letters before dropping it but you need to be prepared if they follow them up.

Pushpin's post only goes to show how utterly ignorant he is. Mind you, he probably never goes out of his one room grief pit. Aldi, for years, has been attracting the so-called 'middle class' demographic.

Chavs flock to Aldi. Because it is cheap and their budget doesn't offer the opportunity of extravagant food.

Their advice is outdated. They'll say to ignore. Only a few months ago this advice cost nurses very badly indeed.

I work on the principle that quality comes first in terms of what you stuff down your throat. and the stuff at Aldi is pretty s hite. cheap for a reason.

Aldi sell a very decent dry sparkling Chardonnay for £7.99 a pop - it puts many none vintage champagnes to shame and is a real bargain.

Sometimes pop in to buy chocolate. By the way what is upper class these days? Do they even still exist?
The thing that stood out for me from the o.p. was that Lowbank and his wife got through 4 bottles of wine between them. That's impressive.

I had a similar experience with car park scammers I took my nephew to Hull to watch the clarets the night Delfounseo scored, we won 1 nil on the way there I stopped at Ferrybridge for about 40 minutes then onto Hull. On the way back home I stopped at Ferrybridge again for another 40 minutes and a week later I got a letter from the Ferrybridge car park operator a company based in Croydon in the envelope was a photo of my car going on the parking area around 17:30 and a photo of my car leaving at around 23:30 and a fine of £80 for overstaying the limit. Well in between the 2 visits I had been to Hull took a couple of timed and dated photos of my nephew in front of the stadium with my car clearly in the foreground I also had the match tickets and I had spoken to a few of the lads that had travelled with the Rossendale Clarets enough evidence to show I owed that company nothing. Their letter was threatening saying they could take my car if I did't pay, I can imagine the panic if some vulnerable elderly person was faced with this that's just what they go for. I wrote to the company enclosing copies a of all my evidence and a strongly worded letter explaining the lengths I had gone to to prove this was wrong and pointing out the fear and stress this kind of mistake would cause some people. I got a very apologetic reply explaining it was a computer glich and thanking me for bringing this to their attention and a cheque for £100 for my inconvenience or in other words keep your mouth shut, legal criminals.

Very good quality stuff - quality means fitness for the use it was intended for (hence the VW Beetle was always regarded as better quality than the Rolls Silver Ghost - source The Institute of Quality Management).
Many confuse quality with standard.
