Who actually cares? I'm amazed how many of our fans still give a sh** about a man who got us promoted 9 years ago. Some people just never move on.

I'm just shocked many posters still to this day dig at Coyle, he's a nice bloke, got time for everyone. You said my comments were libellous about Kilby not backing him so Coyle walked, when in fact those are the words of Coyle and if you ever bumped into him, he'd happily tell you himself. Good bloke, saw a better opportunity and went for it.ClaretTony wrote:If anyone never moves on it's you - just constantly using this message board to antagonise other posters.

I'll tell you now - if you have spoken to Coyle and believed what he's told you then you are even a bigger fool than I thought you were. He's told downright lies and continues to tell downright lies. Coyle a nice bloke? Not backing him? Yes, I thought they'd be the words of Coyle, the serial liar.

I don't think a joke about Iron Bru is really having a go at Owen Coyle.
Re: Tough Times for Coyle
Hardly surprising that KRBFC thinks Coyle is a good bloke, given his similar lack of integrity.

I think he's a nice bloke, always had time to speak to others.

It's hard to respect a man who is so determined to be able to say that he didn't lie to the Burnley fans, that he ran away to hide in Scotland and told his assistant to lie for him.

1. I've no interest in Bolton club legends, 12 goals or not.KRBFC wrote:I don't understand why you're so happy to drag a club legends name through the mud, he's a nice man and loved it here.
2. He's anything but a nice man. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
3. He loved it here? He desperately tried to get the Celtic job and then spent months speaking to Bolton whilst we were employing him.
Are you really a complete fool KRBFC or is coming on here with nonsense a hobby of yours?
Re: Tough Times for Coyle
I've had several chats with the guy, he's treated my brother well while he spent considerable time at his house in Langho. I like the guy, I'm sure if you spoke to him for half an hour you would change your mind. I'm not sure how that makes me a fool either, am I not allowed to like Coyle because he left us 9 years ago?ClaretTony wrote:1. I've no interest in Bolton club legends, 12 goals or not.

Absolutely not - and it doesn't work like that on hits in any case. Not sure why he would be canned, we disagreed, I think I'm right and I know he's wrong. Whoever it was they certainly weren’t fooled into appointing him. An absolute master stroke appointing him manager of Burnley when we did.
Still, his current predicament is brilliant.

Re: Tough Times for Coyle
Regardless of who is right or wrong on the alleged treachery of Owen Columba Coyle, I can say with absolute certainty that the following statement is utter nonsense:
Hence, there is a good reason why libellous - or even just potentially libellous - comments are removed from this board.
Repetition of a libel is still a libel and both the originator and repeater can be sued. Lawyers tend to pursue the organ most likely to pay up (i.e. the one likely to settle out of court) which is usually the one who couldn't afford a lengthy court battle. I say this having once repeated a libel in a business magazine that originated in a national newspaper, with the upshot that my editor was threatened with legal action by Carter-Ruck unless a grovelling retraction was published.KRBFC wrote:(If the repetition is authorized by the originator of the defamatory statement, the person repeating the statement is not liable)

Re: Tough Times for Coyle
I think its fair to say that until Coyle did the dirty, he was very much admired by all on this board. We used to hear on a regular basis from CT as to how much he admired Coyle's handling of the media in particular, for example.
Of course, with the benefit of hindsight we can all agree that the way it was all handled, particularly by Coyle himself was awful, and I think most have enjoyed his fall from grace as an example of what can happen when you burn bridges.
Personally I have moved on and don't have a great deal of feeling about it either way. In particular, I don't think we are particularly a special case as a club in terms of what happened and I am quite sure we will see it in the football world again.

Re: Tough Times for Coyle
Whenever OC gets mentioned, there's always a select few telling us to "get over it", even on a joke thread like this, I'm not even sure KRBFC clicked on the link before replying.
But even it we haven't, so what? You'll never get me to forget the malicious and devious way he left the football club I love, not just the "gone to see his Mum" lie, the planned (imo) ruining of our transfer window taking the players he signed over, and the lies coming out as statement from "unknown" sources via his mate Nixon why he kept a "dignified" silence.
He's a snake oil salesman, his one talent is to make you believe what he's saying. I'll hold my hands up and say I got suck in and believed he was "God", of course he liked it here, were one of two clubs where his stich worked. He failed everywhere else.
One thing though, CT might be vocal about him now, but when it all came out in the wash, IIRC a few posters that know CT (I don't) stating the CT had never "taken to him". And looking back at the coverage there was hardly any worshiping in CTs reporting than was prevailing on the message boards, stands and all the way to Wrestlemania. AFAIK, CT has never come out and said, "told you so". But he's Long proven correct with the benefit of hindsight.
We can long argue the merits of his stay with us (personally I believe he undid all the good work by the way he left) - that's why his name comes up now and again, like all past managers. Yes, the majority think he's an anchor, you make your bed and all that, but I don't think anyone actually cares about him anymore. Except maybe those that are still beguiled.

Most Burnley fans prefer to call him Judas..
Most Burnley fans know the team that won promotion in 2009 were brought in and assembled by another manager.
Most other fans, in most of the clubs he managed, have no respect for the man.
