Not a new problem this is it?

The trick is to ensure we get full market value with contract lengths. Securing our best players on longer contracts doesnt mean they stay, just means we get more for them.

We in turn will bully a lesser club into selling their best player.

Nothing new.

That article didn't seem to say anything new it just appeared to knit some previous quotes together to present a desired viewpoint. I'm sure if offered enough any player would leave but I also think our players on the whole realise the grass isn't always greener at the big clubs hence Heaton staying with us for as long as he has. Kean has struggled without the team spirit and Andre has flopped without the team behind him.

It’s not a new problem is it? We’ve got to where we are with it, we need to keep being good at what we do. Find talent, develop it into the first team abd then see where we end up. Only with a big influx of external money will that model change. That’s money that the other clubs don’t benefit from. At tge moment the TV money just means we are much better off than everyone outside the Pemier League, we stay static to everyone in it.

Obviously a slow news day. Did anyone who as ever watched a football match think this was no longer the case?

Reminds me of the Burnley way. Take a young player and make him better. Give him an opportunity to flourish in a strong team and let him move on when he has different ambitions. In the nean tine, we have an understudy in place. Club able to enhance remaining player benefits and keep hunger and opportunity as drivers.

Up the Clarets.

Ps. 'Could rise to £31m in summer for Keane. Let's hope he makes the world cup squad!
