Leaving after 4th goal
Leaving after 4th goal
Embarrassing today when the last goal went in and a quarter of our fans upped and left. If you are one of them you are a disgrace you don’t deserve this team.

I left on 86 minutes which cut 45 minutes off my journey home. My sincere apologies for letting you down. #Dickhead.Reckoner wrote:Embarrassing today when the last goal went in and a quarter of our fans upped and left. If you are one of them you are a disgrace you don’t deserve this team.

We need an 'early leavers' sticky thread. Much simpler, that way.

Re: Leaving after 4th goal
I left on the 80th min and didn't have to dick about sitting in traffic outside the Etihad for an hour or so.
Nearly home now instead of not getting home well after 10pm like I would've been if we'd stayed to the end.
No shame and no ***** given.

Re: Leaving after 4th goal
Me & my dad left early.
We had been stood on the top tier for all the game and left early so it was safer for him to get down the stair whilst there wasn’t as many people.
It also meant we didn’t have to wait as long for the tram to get back to the car and was home by 6:30

Pope left early for the fourth
I thought it looked bad tbh however I had a good parking spot on a rat run so getting away wasn't an issue for me.

Just think. If you had stuck around, there was the possibility that you could have said that you witnessed the greatest football comeback of all time. But if you leave, there's no chance.

Re: Leaving after 4th goal
I will tell you what a disgrace is...
It's dickheads who can't handle their beer chucking beer over people on the concourse
Its the same dickheads who get some kind of joy singing about someone being dead
Its dickheads who start shouting to man city fans over 10 m away from them that they are a **** team and that they all should be ashamed of their team
Its the female dickhead who starts calling aguero out for wearing gloves
Its the fact that those that run the metrolink know that there are going to be 50k leaving a venue and send single carriage trams.
What isn't a disgrace is people who choose to leave when the game is over in terms of getting a result because they don't want to spend 3 hrs getting away from the stadium to beat the rush because they have distances to travel, young children with them or elderly people etc.

Can't believe some folk get so worked up about what time some folk leave a game.
It's a free country, people can leave a feckin football stadium whenever they like, doesn't mean they care any more or any less about the team they are watching, if they didn't care they wouldn't have paid to be there in the first place!

Re: Leaving after 4th goal
I left with my two kids (both at their first away game) and got back home on the train at about 7 pm.
Really good day, couple of beers before the game, an enjoyable match (despite 2nd half) and a hassle free journey.
Come back to this site and its either been taken over the idiots who were too drunk to stand at the Etihad, or the ones who can't possibly be sane as they are moaning about where we are and who we are playing.
Just enjoy it you utter dickheads, because this can't last.

What a pathetic post. People can leave when they want and particularly when a game is dead and buried. People have all kinds of reasons to leave. Don't think anyone who left early should be justifying it to the OP or feel remotely guilty about making their own personal choice.

Why can't it last Lancaster?
Why can't we be the one who breaks the mould?
I know that there's a great deal of evidence to show that it's very hard to maintain, but we aren't Blackpool, Portsmouth or Bradford etc etc.

Top seven and best of the rest.
I doubt that we'll drop as low as we did to be fair
I just hope people who seem really unhappy on here are just enjoying this cos I certainly am!

I understand those with reasons such as safety regarding elderly people.
However, you could tell a mile off today the fans who've had their one away game day out of the season and give up supporting when the game looks dead. Lots of part timers on today- half the upper tier decided to sit down when the kick off whistle blew

I also left after the fourth goal. Rare I leave early but with having to get the tram i decided to beat the rush.I didn't fully as we had to walk a long way round to get to the tram stop but i certainly saved a lot of time on my way home.
I don't deserve this team though because i don't stay until the end. I guess being there at our lowest ever attendance..seeing us getting hammered by Hereford at home and all those trips to the backwaters of lower league football counts for nothing? Oh well C'est la vie...we can't all be Uber fans.

Re: Leaving after 4th goal
There was no need to leave. I have to say I was genuinely surprised by the number of people who buggered off early doors.
Walking back to the car after the game, I overheard a conversation between a City family where the Mum laughed and said , "Well, we finally shut that lot up, most of 'em went home on 80 minutes..."
Bloody embarrassing that, because the lads and the fans had done pretty well until then.
Fair play to all those who stayed and staged a reasonably defiant "We are the Longside...."

I try to stand at away games as much as possible, but there were two old blokes sat behind me so I decided not to block their view. I did notice a lot of kids as well around where I was.

Deriding 'early leavers' is rooted in romantic notions of valour from people who crave yet never had the opportunity to experience, for example, life in the trenches on the Western front (or any other point of adversity recognised in the narrative of our shared national history), but seek the sense of camaraderie that a literal existential threat breeds amongst a group of people, articulated through the cosy, safe, harmless, boring comfort of supporting football team. When Reckoner tells someone they're a disgrace for leaving early, thereby asserting his valour, he's essentially calling them a traitor to the cause, to which I'd argue, that's ****ing tragic, mate; you've a hole in your life than needs filling which you aren't going to find in football, but I hope it all works out well for you, anyway.
