I'd almost bet on this:

Pope,
Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee (capt.) Taylor,
Berg-Gudmondsson, Defour, Cork, Barnes,
Hendrick,
Vokes

The Hendrick situation is difficult. He's not performing...but we're currently 7th.
Confusing.

Huge fan of Lowton. But he had his worse game for us Saturday. Granted it was against City. But Bardsley has earnt his shirt and hasnt yet lost it imo.

I don't get the criticism of Hendrick, he's doing a difficult job fairly well, defending from the front and carrying the ball quite well.
Not necessarily his natural position, but he's not doing too badly (IMHO, of course).

Hendrick struggles to do the basics on Saturday , he’s just not suited to that position
I know we are having a brilliant season but it’s hard not to criticise him been of the boil for afew weeks now with no one to step in

No reason whatsoever to drop Bardsley.
He's at least Lowtons equal and hasn't had a really bad game yet.

Hendrick has plenty of skills, very quick feet as he showed on a mazy run on Saturday v City. It's a different position than what he has been used to.

However in my opinion his main fault is taking just that little bit too long to make his mind up when in posession of the ball, he gives the defender that split second to tackle or dispossess him.

Overall I have been quite happy with him, he has scored some crucial goals.

Clearly looked short of matches but as you say Bardsley has done nothing wrong.

Pope,
Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor,
JBG, Defour, Cork, Wells
Barnes,
Vokes

Think it'll be
Pope,
Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor,
JBG, Defour, Cork, Arfield
Hendrick
Barnes,

I think the only rational answer to your poser is that Hendrick is, in fact, performing - just like every other player who has played regularly. Its simply not posssible for us to be so high otherwise.

Team for Saturday - I thought Barnes on the left worked nicely on Saturday, so assuming Arfield is not fit, I'd go with the same team as Saturday, except that Defour and Tarks would replace Westwood and Long. So:

--------------Pope
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
-------Defour Cork
JBG-----Hendrick Barnes
----------Vokes

Nkoudou a really good bench option for now, whilst he adjusts to our way of playing.

Same team as claretspice. Lowton back in for me. Way better than Bardsley.

Was Barnes on the left? He looked right side of a front two to me?

If you ignore not staying with Klavan when he scored a last minute winner I assume?

Definitely played from the left, although he obviously had some licence to get alongside Vokes with Hendrick covering.

I'd go with this too.

Not seen enough of the new signing to start him, so an impact sub to begin with.

He definitely scored from the right of a front 2. Must have been roaming.
