Manchester United and Newcastle United supporters face a travel nightmare when their teams play in the fourth round of the FA Cup later this month.

Newcastle United's tie against either Chelsea or Norwich City was selected for the early Sunday kick-off by BT Sport - meaning Mags travelling from the north east will be effectively unable to travel by train to the fixture. Meanwhile, the Red Devils' long trip to Yeovil Town was selected by the BBC to be played on a Friday evening. "Yet again broadcasters have totally ignored the impact on away fans when considering what will be best for television ratings," Manchester United Supporters Trust said.

not sure this is fair:

Newcastle - fans can travel down Saturday, stay overnight, enjoy some time in London (or Norwich, but that would be a surprise);

ManU - there won't be enough tickets for the South West based ManU fans - surely MUST have an address list for all their fans?

And Newcastle fans who now have to travel on the Saturday and stay overnight will the television company be paying for their food and hotel for the night?

They deserve what they get following Manu.

I doubt it, cb. But, don't they have to eat wherever they are. Maybe they will have an argument to offset the extra cost of ale in London.

Travel there & back on day = lunch & possible evening meal

Travel there & stay overnight = evening meal, breakfast & lunch plus the cost of accommodation

That’s probably an extra £50 at least which as you are not likely to do that by yourself can be multiplied 2,3 or 4 per party

Yeovil is darn sarf and they won't get much over 1000 tickets anyway.

Notice there’s only one game on bbc in 4th round and the rest are on bt ,
One game is on 7:45 ko Saturday night didn’t think that would happen !!

Train leaves Newcastle 7.55 am, into Kings Cross 11.40, 42 minutes by tube & on foot to Stamford Bridge. Easy.
Can't do Norwich, mind.

Surely Yeovil is closer than Old Trafford for most Man Utd fans?
