Alassane Pléa
Alassane Pléa
Haven't seen this mentioned but according to reports we've made an enquiry for him? Aside from being a striker I don't know much about him. Statistically looks good.
Very much doubt it as I wouldn't have though a striker would be a priority but a link nonetheless.

Probably nothing in it but he's netted a few in the Europa league.

Doubt very much that this no more than a rumour and that we're unlikely
to bring in anyone form Europe.
But it would be nice if we could and did and whoever they might be
made an impact.
Having said that we do still need one or two more to come in
even more so if one or two leave (Walters, Arfield?).
I know Dyche has said it's likely to be late on in the market but if any leave before
and we know who we'd want then why wait until the last day/hour or so?

Sounds like we may be extending our scouting network if nothing else.
Plea, Grosicki, Waris and of course Nkoudou all in France.

My comment wasn't actually aimed at you Cricketfield. It was aimed more at certain posters who ALWAYS seem to conveninently have 'mates' who are season ticket holders at said club of a player we are linked with.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Dont know much about him myself. Re: Alassane Pléa
Why wouldn't you think a striker is a priority? I've been saying for a while now if we only got one player in in the window it should be a striker. Defence and midfield are looking pretty good and even the wide positions are not looking too shabby (dependent on GKN). Yes we need cover for these positions but does anyone really think that Barnes and Vokes are PL quality? They are doing 'okay' but neither are quite the standard required. Wells is an unknown quantity who Dyche seems loathe to use and as for Walters I've always thought he was a poor signing and it seems he may even be on his way out, at least on loan. Wood was injured too soon to really evaluate him but he seems another 'okay' striker (maybe even a little better than just okay and is certainly the best we have it seems). It would be great to strengthen all round but the fact is we can't score goals, or at least not enough of them, and when we go behind it is then an uphill struggle.boyyanno wrote:Haven't seen this mentioned but according to reports we've made an enquiry for him? Re: Alassane Pléa
I don't think it's a priority because we splashed big cash on Wood. I'd love to see us sign another striker but can't see it based on that alone. The centre back position is clearly one that needs strengthening with just Long as backup and you could make that argument about a lot of the squad in terms of perceived Premier league quality. To answer your question Barnes is showing he's capable but Vokes (probably down to game time) is looking poor. Last year though he did a decent job in terms of goals though.houseboy wrote:Why wouldn't you think a striker is a priority? So all in all I very much doubt a first team striker (he's not coming here to warm the bench) will be next on the list.
Re: Alassane Pléa
Seen him play for Nice a few times on BT Sport along with Balotelli. He is decent player in the French League and seems to have a much better attitude than Balotelli (damning with faint praise). Trouble is the French League is so lightweight that there is no way of knowing if he is capable of adapting to the rigours of English football

Re: Alassane Pléa
I know what you mean about the centre back position. Barnes has showed some ability recently I accept that but Vokes, as you say probably because he isn't playing enough, just isn't cutting it this season. Wood looks good but when are we going to get him back? Does anyone know? Of course if the new boy is anything at all like he's made up to be then better supply may make my post look a bit premature. Unfortunately we have a brilliant manager whose down side is that he plays things so close to his chest that we haven't a clue what is going on half the time. If I could change only one thing about Dyche (and it is probably the ONLY thing to be honest) it would be that he would be more open about things. He's so damn secretive he could work for MI5.boyyanno wrote:I don't think it's a priority because we splashed big cash on Wood. Would anyone like a Nice striker?
Just read this from some Italian website
CalcioMercato can report that Premier League trio Everton, Burnley and Newcastle United are eyeing up a move to sign Nice striker Alassane Plea.
The 25-year-old striker has been an impressive performer for Nice this season and has been so ever since he joined the club from Ligue 1 rivals Lyon in the summer of 2014. This season, the Frenchman has appeared 30 times in the Ligue 1 for Nice, scoring as many as 13 times and racking up a tally of 4 assists too.

The same names will appear again between now and the summer no doubt!!
I see Fernando Torres is out of contract in the summer... worth a cheeky bid to be our 4th or 5th choice striker ha ha?!! 34 years old, plenty of European experience.

I'm not sure whether your suggestion is tongue in cheek CC but what a signing that would be. If there's one manager who could potentially get his head/ego/playing abilities aligned that would be SD.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Forget Plea. Balotelli is out of contract at Nice this year!
