New corner stands for disabled fans - any updates?

If I understood correctly the club said that these would be built ready for next season and that building would commence in January. If this is the case, has any work started? Has anybody heard if planning is all signed and agreed. I think the timescale is tight even if they were to start work this month.

Next week, or touch and go equates to a long time, or longer than stipulated:)

I hope it does get sorted soon but it did look like the plans had been drawn on the back of a fag packet.
Hope the calculations weren’t.

When they said "next week" I think they meant work on the detailed architectural design rather than breaking ground. Assuming the previously-seen artists impressions were the most presentable part of the work done before Christmas, the contractor will be a long way off receiving the completed set of construction drawings. And there's the submission of the planning application to consider. That'll be at least eight weeks.

Do I have it right that you're the 'screen man', and would know this because of that?

Or do you suspect some sarcasm knowing it isn't going to start this week?

No, I just recall seeing that CTU was involved with the screen at some point.

Given plans haven't even hit the council website it will be a fair time before any building starts. The close season seems the obvious option to start the work.

The club will just apply for permission retrospectively won't they?
No one at the council would have the stupidity to turn down a minor application from the biggest company in its borough.

Doubt that as the new stands have to be in place by the start of next season.

Surely they can start construction whenever everything is ready. Its not going to interrupt anything during match days, other than the tele

They don't need planning to do any of the pre work that will be required. Planning only kicks in when they break the soil and start groundwork.

From my planning committee experience at a similar Council to Burnley I am sure the planning officer would have been kept fully informed of the planning work and the Council's disability access officer will have been actively engaged at all stages of the design process to date. As it is a planning application in order to meet a statutory imposition it is almost implicit that planning consent must be given unless there are SIGNIFICANT implications affecting a protected area of land or a listed building, for example

Well it wont be, certainly not to a very high standard if it is. 6 months to fully complete 2 quite large structures fit for purpose and ready for public use is very optimistic.
I think there has to have been a snag, ammendment to the design or a change to the completion date.

There’s a few ideas, but it’s still to be confirmed, there will be a temporary one installed for the final 7 games.

Thank goodness for that - the fanzone has become that popular it's been a nightmare trying to get round to the stand.

Walked past the turf on the way home tonight and notice its been dismantled. Either by the gypsies up towneley or more likely for the new disabled stands.
Anyone know if its being replaced and if so where it will go? Hopefully not in the cfs again. Perhspd the roof of the bob lord or the corner of the cfs?

I must have a good imagination then as I definitely saw the lineups and a few replays on there on Saturday!

They had a temporary one up on the back of a fancy wagon.

It is not being replaced because it would cause lots of arguments if they had to show things from the VAR. The FA has decided that it would be better to keep the fans who attend matches in the dark as to what happens in a review, thus avoiding any controversy!

Bullnose volvo unit with a fancy trailer which the screen was attached to, probably very expensive.
Don't know what is shown on the screen I've never seen it, I sit in the jhu.

It is going to be attached, to the front of the longside and used as a roof extension, for those in the lower tier.

It was brought in to fulfill obligations to the sponsors who have shelled out for the season already, plus it brings in a lot of matchday revenue rather than Premier League requirements.
The the system they hired in was a SkyFly, really impressive peice of kit.

The wind breakers on the sides of the 2 main stands could do with a good clean, they are manky.

The sides of the stands probably need replacing to be honest. I mean the semi (lightly used) transparent ones only. The stands were cleaning over the summer and look a hell of a lot better for it, but those ones must be getting towards the end of their life.
Regarding the screen it wouldn’t bother me if it disappeared completely. I only use it to look at player names of the opposition, and they only show the teams for about 10 minutes of the 90. It’s basically an advertising screen, like we don’t have enough already.

I’m in the jimmy Mac upper and enjoy watching the replays on the big screen.
