Can anyone remember a match where burnley were playing someone where our kits clashed. And then the opposition had to wear our away shirt?

Question been asked by someone and cant remember whom it was!

He is right as I was at that game.

As soon as they ran out I knew we would win

Was that a kit clash or did they not bring their kit?

For some reason they brought their red away kit thinkin gthat it would be less of a clash with our Claret then their first kit of blue.

They ended up in the very comical mix of black/green top, red shorts & (I think) red socks

The Reading v Stevenage game was a farce last night until Reading changed their kit at half time.

I'm sure an away team had to wear our away shorts one game on the Turf.

No idea who or what year though.

Possibly. I can remember an away team having to wear our away socks in the last couple of years.
It was a night match - possibly MK Dons the cup?

If I'm not mistaken, it included 2 goals by Big John Gayle, a bicycle kick and a diving header/shoulder. Oh and the best right hand and knockout by a footballer ever! Gerry Harrison, take a shower son!..... He didn't even wait for the ref's whistle

Yep - MK Dons had to wear our navy blue training socks in our Championship winning season.

Are you not thinking of a 4-2 win over Sheffield United, which I'm fairly sure was televised on ITV?

Andy Saville, John Gayle, Steve Davis & Liam Robinson plus an own goal. As duncandisorderly posted, the shoulder goal was the 4-2 win v Sheffield United when goals were scored by Robinson, Jamie Hoyland, Gayle and Davis.

Harrison was sent off v Southend. He was the third of four players sent off in four consecutive matches. Before that it was David Eyres at Stoke, Wayne Dowell v Middlesbrough and was followed by Marlon Beresford at Portsmouth.

Wasn't it Wayne Dowell sent off that match?

Dowell was definitely sent off against Middlesbrough which was also on TV I think.
John Hendrie got all three if I remember.

It was against Middlesbrough, as per the post above, and John Hendrie did get all three. He also scored both their goals when they beat us 2-0 at Middlesbrough on the opening day of the season.

We'd just signed Hoyland from Sheffield United and I can remember the "Thank you very much for Jamie Hoyland" chant :D

When we played Forest a few years ago at home, we both wore home shirts. Red not really a clash with claret.

A few years ago Leicester changed from blue to red at Burnley

Man City reserves wore our lucky green and black shorts at Turf Moor when they'd only brought white ones. Even the shorts alone were enough for a jinx - Burnley won 6-1.

That 95 season was a bit ****, what with Bastards winning the top division and all, but for some reason this is one of my favourite Burnley related pictures;

Image

A nonplussed John Deary after decking Englands greatest ever midfielder (hyperbole).

Great game v Southend. I'm sure the lad who scored the own goal also got chinned by Gerry Harrison was sent off too.

From memory harrison went on a run from centre half, beat a couple of players, lost control of the ball and then dived in 2 footed. Another Southend player shoved or gave Gerry a slap so harrison gave him a proper one back!

After a bit of research I think he was called graham Bressington.

I also remember Man City reserves wearing our Jade and black tops. I think our reserves won 6-0 that night.
