Have you never seen S.c.u.m, which came out in 1979?

Edit - The word filter on this board is ridiculous.

I've seen him on Minder.

His voice used to be squeeky.

Fraud of the highest order. File under Danny Dyer

Jimmy's biker mate in Quadrophenia was the first time I'd come across him. Think he was a boxer.

Bloody hell he won 80 out of 88 fights as an amateur ( care of wiki) so no mug in a row I’d imagine .
Nil by mouth a good film, he was also in a cracking Brit robbery film with Robert Carlisle they robbed a cash counting warehouse though name escapes me.

Fills a gap in the acting industry and has done well for himself out of it.

If it wasn't him it would be some other cockney bloke you'd be disliking.

Nowhere near South London, he is an Eastender and ex England International at Amatuer Boxing.

All round top bloke and very underrated as an actor.

Think his first film was "****" where had played some kind of hard nut in a Borstal. This would be early mid 1970's.

You need to get onto Sky and hand in your 30 day notice period. They will reduce that bill by about £40 a month in a (to keep the cockney theme) breff

The recent film version of The Sweeney with Ray Winston was probably one of the worse British films I think I’ve ever seen. Dick Van Dyke was a much better cockney.

He also voiced Zoony in Fireball XL5.

Weird target to go for, when there are so many deserving others.

- because he does a few adverts?

He is one of our finest British actors...highly regarded.

Maybe it's an East London, West Ham United thing..?

I don't mind him, but I do find his betting ads annoying. I find all betting ads annoying.

Also, I'd like to see a broadcasting watershed brought in for betting ads. I most certainly don't want to ban online betting, I participate myself, but let's keep it for adults.

Re: Ray Winston

I genuinely doubt it's Ray's fault that whatever "focus group" has discovered that their target audience react well to "gruff cockney chap character".

Whoever found this out must have made a tonne of money though - he must have done at least a handful of advertisements shouting at men and telling us how to spend our money.

"Oi! Yooooo! 'Av a butchers at this and spend yar monaaay on it!"

I don't think it should be advertised on TV at all.
Massive growing problem in society and the betting industry should not be assisted by advertising.

I can't remember the betting firms advertising anywhere near as much on TV (if at all) when they did not have all this casino and online betting.

Bookmakers always made a fortune but in recent years they have seen new cash cows in online gambling and these ridiculous machines they have in their shops....destroying people's lives.

I really like him. I remember him being extremely defensive of our club when Coyle left. Said on BBC 5 Live that Coyle had raped Burnley and the presenter having to apologise on his behalf as he wouldn't because he thought as ill of Coyle as us clarets.

Typical of modern celebrity culture. He's probably seen as a national treasure now and asked his opinion on everything.

Just appreciate him for his film work and switch the rest off.
