A Martin Paterson has scored for Indian team Atletico de Kolkata. Is he THE Martin Paterson?

I thought this was going to say he had signed for Ross County. Be a bit sweaty hot in Calcutta even at this time of year, he might have to slow down a bit.

Was it as good as his goal away at Reading?

He is playing in Calcutta and it's around 100 degrees at the moment. I'm going to India in two weeks and wouldn't like to play football in it.

I don’t think I’ve ever cheered a goal like that one. I was directly behind it, and saw it just bend from out to in!

Here we go for old times sake.
A poor link visual wise, but I just love the commentary. Up there with my best away days watching Burnley...

In the context of the magnitude of the game, and the fact that both goals were scored into our own fans I cannot remember Burnley (or any other team come to think of it) scoring 2 better quality goals than we did that night.

Right up there with the best games ever as a Burnley fan.

I’ve been to the stadium in Kolkata that the games was played. It was a bit of a dump. Artificial pitch, main all standing, held about 110,000. Might’ve been done up since. It was 8 years ago.

Of all the games I wished I could have been at, that is the one just for that goal.

Funny what time does to you. I always imagine Pato's goal to be much further out than it actually was. Still a great goal, but got to say, I thought Thompson's was better.....

Watching those two goals made me wonder - if Paterson and Thompson attempted those shots again, every day since that date, how many times would they have gone in? :D

Agree with what has been said about that night being right up there (despite the best part of four seasons in the Premier League since) in my all time favourite experiences as a Burnley fan.

Me and StAlbansClaret had a similar viewpoint to Roosterbooster.

Finally, as the commentator says, the Reading defence 'just backed off' and in that sense perhaps made up Martin Paterson's mind for him.

However, what never gets mentioned is the fantastic lung-bursting 'under and then overlapping' run that Wade Elliot makes which confused the two defenders facing up Martin Paterson just long enough for him to drift inside and hit it.... .

E-I-e-I-o- VERY VERY LOUD!!!

I was in line with shot and it started out missing by a foot and bent in .

My friend had said at half time
“ problem is with Patterson he is just not championship quality”

I was screaming how’s that for championship quality when he scored.

I was another screaming for him to play it out wide to Blake as he came heading straight for me. Wonderful strike, but don't forget the part Wade played making that run down the right to take defenders away.

Brilliant goal on a brilliant night.

I remember the fans chanting for the players.
The Reading fans clapping us.
The tannoy saying they were not coming and us just singing.

Oh and the
Your just a Sh1t Neil warnock and him looking really worried.

Kind of thought we had won then as manager already knew his side had already lost.

Still my favourite away day.......felt like we got battered first half. 2-0 up the attention turned to Kevin Blackwell in the sky studio which was conveniently placed in our end. "BLACKWELL....YOU'RE NEXT" and you could tell by his expression that he believed us

If an alien asked me why I liked football, I'd show them the 4th division championship video. I was 9 and it was the best thing ever.
If they then asked me why I still liked football, I'd show them the 08/09 season video. I was 26 I think, and I honestly don't think football has ever been better than that. As good as we are now,(and we are good, far better than that side) that season takes some beating.

People get sucked into this "only the Big 6 are worth watching" stuff. Man U are so not worth watching these days that it's not even funny. Give me Bristol Manor Farm over them any day of the week. It's the level of COMPETITION that makes football worth watching, not the size of the players' contracts.

Just watched that twice. Some fantastic goals, definitely rivals 1992 as my all time favourite season watching Burnley. 60 odd games of tension, at least 30 of them up there with the best ever days: Reading away, Chelsea, Arsenal, the win at home against Preston.
The Spurs home game stands out to me as i took my ex who was 39 weeks pregnant with my youngest, she nearly went into labour at each of the goals and i was dreaming of free season tickets for life if she did!

Oh why have you give it Joey and not put it o'er in t' box?

BOOM! Stick that in your pipe Nob End.

Grezza's free kick against Forest looked even better from the away end. A curling Exocet missile.

Chris Eagles would have had an even better season if he hadn't had a goal that was called back for offside, when he was about 3 yards ONSIDE, called back against Arsenal.

The vast majority of the away end that night were screaming in unison "PASS IT!!!! PASS IT TO BLAKE!!!!" and "DON'T SHOOT!"

I know I was.

Oh what a sweet moment. One of the most exceptional and exhilarating moments ever as a Claret. Sheer elation, joy and amazement.

Martin Cha-Paterson. If he'd a couple of Prem seasons on today's cash I doubt he'd of been playing in India.
