I hit attachment jpg uploads and there is a green tick.

Does anyone know anything about the picture itself?

Notice there are 4men in white strips running the line.

Did we have 4 linesmen?

Not seen that one before.... could it be an original photo? Might be worth showing it to the club (used to be Ray Simpson who looked after club history, but I must confess not sure who does it now, but others will)

I've never heard of four linesman but the pictures shows the clearly.

I thought I'd seen that pic at some time but I might be mistaken.

What I have though is unique, a photograph of our two FA Cup Final goalscorers

.... and if you google FA Cup Final 1914 'images' you get a lot more including that one where spectators are standing on poles!

They have a large copy of the picture of spectators standing on poles (pieces of wood, not people from Poland) on the wall in the New Brewm in town. It's a fascinating pic and unbelievable they could balance up there and watch the match. I always think the tight buggers should have just bought a ticket like everyone else! (Maybe they were the cheap seats with "restricted view"!!)

What was the attendance?

72,778.......Including Bert Freeman's dad who had travelled 13,000 miles from Australia for the match and saw his son score the winner.

Lucky enough to have a number of photos of the big day but never seen this one before. How did you obtain the picture, can I ask ?

Looks like it could be the moment that King George V arrived at the Pavilion, Crystal Palace before the match, he was the first reigning monarch to attend the FA Cup Final. Captains Boyle and Ferguson were introduced to the King in the Pavilion before the match and of course our Bert Freeman then went on to score the winner.

Anyone know what the big rock-like thing behind the goal on the left is? Looks totally out of keeping with the rest of the landscape.

Also is the current crystal palace ground the same as the cup final one?

Not the same place - the old Crystal Palace is the site of the National Athletics Stadium

This photograph was taken at the centenary exhibition at Towneley almost four years ago. The lady who was visiting was Bert Freeman's daughter.

Selhurst Park is a couple of miles away. But am I remembering it right that there were plans for Crystal Palace to move to the same site as the National Athletics Stadium.

It is about two miles away, that will be around a three hour drive then. There was certainly some discussion about potentially moving before they got back into the Premier League - around 2010-2012. Not sure what happened with it but they've now got plans to redevelop Selhurst.

You can see more of the mountain railway in these pics. I think they were quite popular attractions in this period.
