Part of his conversion is going to involve sailing out into the Manhattan river and helping to guide boats while he prays towards Mecca.

By all accounts he'll be the only living buoy in New York

I heard it was when he discovered different methods to digest the info from books by FrenchArab-North African activists. There's books on tape, downloads, all kinds of stuff now.
