See you next season Steven

Get well soon.

Missing out/not getting a recognised Number 10, now is even more baffling.

Time for Westwood to step up - I'm sure he's been "ready and waiting" for a long time.

Quick recovery Steven Defour.

You can't cross your fingers and hope to get lucky every season with injuries.

We run the risk year on year, thankfully this year it hasn't cost us like previous seasons.

To only have 3 CB at the club at this level is crazy, couple that with no natural number 10 and once again it's a head scratching window.

The problem is because dyche is far too stubborn to change personel and rest players . And give players a deserved rest

the fact we have Ulvestad on the bench tonight tells it's own story about how safe the board think we are, they are in for a shock

Having little strength in depth is more likely imo

Plenty of games in which Defour and Cork could be rested or atleast not having to play the full 90. For instance, the Swansea game which was our most comfortable win and either of them could have been given a rest for Westwood for 20 minutes. Westwood has only played 10+ twice in the league.

Edit: Gods speed with your recovery Steven, the best player I've ever seen in Claret and Blue.

Going to be a massive miss! Ulvestad on the bench says it all. We should have signed a number 10 type central midfielder to free up Hendrick to a deeper role giving us more cover.

Dinnae panic. All is well. First season where we have a collection of injuries. The squad is well drilled and strong. There was a time, not long ago, when beyond the first 14 or so, it became iffy and the bench had done a day at school, beforehand. Now they are all possible first teamers.

We will possibly still be eighth regardless of result and team tonight.we won't be putting same team out each and every week.I would take not getting relegated over a top half finished tbh..and I think there's plenty of points on the board to be had!

Disappointing news, real shame for Defour in particular, who has had a very good season.

But fortunately, its probably the position on the pitch (and arguably the player on the pitch) for which we have the best cover, because Westwood and Hendrick have both proved themselves at this level and are well capable of fitting into that role. The additions out wide free up Arfield to add extra cover if we need it, so we've a few options.

It does potentially make another centre back more important, because we could ill afford to lose Cork now -either as a screen to the back 4, or indeed a part of the back 4 should we get a couple more injuries anywhere across the back 4.

I’d like to see Hendrick back in midfield and a change in the number 10 role.

I'm assuming this op is being done now to save the lad's World Cup campaign. We're virtually safe, he clearly needs attention, it makes sense. We have options and will pick up points - maybe not enough to qualify for Europe but plenty enough for us to look back on this season as a damned good one.

Those words from Defour himself confirms he'll miss the rest of the season, not 2 months like Dyche said....

Shame, he's our best player. But we'll be safe anyway, makes sense to get him back ready to start next season like he started this one.

The Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur is suggesting Defour will be out for 5-6 months. That means that he won’t be back for preseason.

Given our touch and go injuries are 2 months out I thought it was optimistic Dyche saying he’d be back in 2 months following an operation.

He's going to miss the World Cup I think.

Hope he'll be back for pre-season next season and hope he's offered (and signed) a new contract asap.

Bad, bad news. He has been outstanding this season and I suspect he's been playing his best football for some years (our Belgian Clarets are, of course, the ones who will be able to confirm that or otherwise). After "getting" Sean Dyche's Burnley he's been class. I presume he'll be out for the World Cup which is terrible news for him.

I hope you recover as quickly as possibly, Steven.
