Great game today, Aguero anonymous, yes was probably lucky not to get
a second yellow. We know Tarks will no doubt slot straight back in when fit,
and KL back on the bench again, but just comes in and does a usually good
job. Let the Newcastle guy get away from him midweek, but I think he's
been ok and a good member of the squad.

He's been excellent in all of his appearances, this season, except Spurs but I don't think Tarks would have fared much better that day.

We are lucky to have him. Not many other players would sit in reserve like he does. Rarely lets us down.

Really kept Aguero quiet.

Those sat around me in the JML couldn’t see much wrong with the challenge that could have been he’s second yellow but I’m willing to be corrected

I understand what your getting at as Kane was immense that game however Tarks did keep him quiet at Wembley. But praise is deserved for Long as since then he has done brilliantly well.

Kane doesn't turn up in August is the best I can respond to that but you are correct.

Had a dodgy afternoon against Spurs were the clumsy penner effected his performance. Apart from that he's been excellent.

I didn't think he'd be up to the standard.

Longest member of the squad for a reason. Sean obviously sees enough in training to know he can do a job for us, and he does. Nor the first time he's been called into action and he never let's us down

I've heard people talk about this lad being happy to collect a wage and sit on the bench. ********.

He really has stepped up a number of levels. That hasn't just happened, he's worked incredibly hard, and it shows. It's vindicated his decision to stay with the club, as he now looks a solid premier league player.

I've been very vocal about him being our reserve CB for a number of years but I'll hold my hands up and admit I'm glad he is still here due to his efforts this season.

However, he still looked odd with his shirt tucked into his pants.

Probably worth every penny we have paid him so far for his performances this season alone

Seems to have gained about 2 yards of pace. Remember him as a bit of a plodder, but 2 or 3 times in his last few performances he's got over rapidly and snuffed a move out. Amazing to think he's seen 4 managers here and it took the regime of the fourth one to finally get him in peak fitness

It's very unusual for a player in the modern game to stick with a club when he knows he's never going to be a regular. It happened a lot in the 60s when the Central League was a fantastic competition.

Long has been exceptional this season pretty much everytime he has played.

We do need another centre back, for depth, but I am not sure whoever that is would be third choice. Long has proven himself an excellent stand in for Mee or Tarky.

Exceptional once again today.
He looks quicker, fitter, more confident.
I hold my hand up and say that when SD said he was happy with what we had as back up in central defence I just couldn’t see Long being good enough.
After so long on the back burner it’s incredible.

He’s a premier league defender.

Cant underestimate how important it is to have a player like him i the squad.

A full international who knows the club, knows the system, bides his time knowing full well he wont be first choice. Priceless.

He could almost certainly be first choice on better money elsewhere.

Correct. Must have committed at least 7 fouls. If that had been a mid-fielder or defender then it's odds-on they would have been booked for persistent fouling.

Very good defender. We don’t really miss Mee or Tarkowski when he steps in. Which is a massive compliment. Certainly better than Eckerslike or Sheena Easton......

saw a few links to his inclusion, bit bizarre really but in a very good way, to many people have being slagging him off in the past but if good enough for SD then obviously good enough for me, especially as third choice.
