Last episode tonight, just finished...anyone else watch it?
Great finale..glad the 'dad and lad' were amongst the winners..they deserved it.
Pretty good programming for 'reality television' imo.
One can see weaknesses and 'short-cutting' in each episode, I get that..
- for example the Hunters sometimes display amazing powers of deduction and perception whereby they miraculously work out in the whole of the UK where the 'escapees' are hiding out..for example tonight re the River Dart in Devon..
Good escapism TV for all that.

I agree, good TV.
Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I could see the lad with Aspergers winning weeks ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he crops up again on telly in the near future.

It must be especially hard especially with the fact that you are followed by a cameraman at all times. Will stand out in public.
Glad they all won. Them lads from Preston smashed it especially with the live gig.

My sister loves it until I told her that they don't use mobile tracking and they don't use number plate recognition.
I liked the advventure part of it and seeing different parts of the country, but it quite clearly involves a lot of acting and planning, so they'll know who wins probably before they all even go out 'on the run'.

They don't use CCTV either. Watch the message when the programme starts - they're basically telling you that by law, they can't use CCTV, ANPR or mobile tracking.
Which means there's sod all chance of them catching any of them.

Maybe they should help the police find all the missing people if they're that good.

They're not that good, four out of nine won tonight.
Many 'missing people' want to be 'missing' so I'm glad that the fuzz aren't using scarce resources chasing them down.

The success rate would be a lot less if you go off what they really had available to them.
People going missing for years, not weeks.

So what`s crack in every single episode when they show them watching the runaways on various CCTV all over the country, either government or visiting pubs and private premises and viewing it?

This is what gets a lot of people - but they do tell you before the show starts that they don't have access to CCTV. It's via their own cameras. Whether it's re-enacted I don't know, but I'm guessing it must be.
Also look at the camera footage from the drones - they have a shadow of the 'fugitive', yet there's no shadow of the person running their balls off with the camera!

I cba reading, but as it's from the Channel 4 website, I'm going to make a massive prediction and say they don't admit it's all faked

The way that they show the mobile phone pings that are not even from the runners, but from traffic in the area, leads me to believe that they have some sort of public access?

The pings will be from the towers. When you text or ring, or receive a text or call, there's a ping. Which means there's communication to the nearest tower. There are also pings if your phone is just turned on, regardless of whether you receive any communication. Providers don't just release that information to anybody, they only release it to the likes of the police when it's a crime such as a murder.
They aren't going to release the information to what is really, a gameshow. It just isn't going to happen. If they did, it would open a can of worms for the data protection act.
Which is why they 'tell' the viewers before the show starts - but they purposely do so in a way that a lot of people won't understand, or won't care about. But it's actually telling the viewers that 80% of this is for entertainment only.

How do they 'fake' the ANPR then, as they are clearly pretending to track vehicles using it?
The only way I can see they can do it is that once the hunters have identified a car a fugitive is travelling in, the cameraman tells them which roads (with CCTV) they are travelling on.
