What year was it when The Shay was covered in snow? They cleared the pitch but it was banked up all around and treacherous on that cinder terrace. Must have been around that time.
Re: Halifax away 1991/92
Sad as it might be I preferred that experience to the Etihad . Might just be I prefered being twenty odd to fifty plus.

Same here. At the Etihad FA Cup match I was on the back row of the top tier. Felt totally remote from the match. Much preferred being able to stand, choose where to stand and move around. Being stuck in a seat is not much fun!

You mean that match where Burnley fans behind the goal threw snowballs at the Halifax GK?

February the previous season I think it was.

Re: Halifax away 1991/92
Even allowing for different rules in them days, that was an extraordinarily biased commentary.
I do remember that the early cheer for the second red card was because by that time, we knew which pocket the red one was in. The yellow card was in his other pocket.

I remember fans throwing snowballs at dibble to try and knock off their helmets.

Interesting to see the football standard compared with now and we were then the top Div 4 team heading for the title and promotion

Good run out to Halifax, couple of pints in the White Hart at Tod.
Great times.

Re: Halifax away 1991/92
The 91-92 season.
Had some great away days that season, with my mate Foz.
And even in the away end at Barnet which as to be one of the worst views ever.
1-1 And I don't think we actually could see our goal going in.
But the walking down the road when the bfc coach went past before the game. You had to be there. Fabulous. .
The fans came out from every were.
Brilliant season.

Ah, the days when I used to get to lots of away matches. Good day out that one. It’s amazing how I can’t remember what I did last week, but as soon as we got that free kick after the first sending off I remembered exactly what Deary was about to do.

Re: Halifax away 1991/92
I've always wanted to see footage from this game as it wasn't on the Burnley Are Back video, thanks a lot. Love seeing the Burnley fans go spaghetti when we score.

It worked in the last minute at Wigan the season after too. It's alright Defour sticking it in the top corner from 30 yards but I'd like to see this brought back.martin_p wrote:Didn’t he score with the same set piece at Hull that season?

Re: Halifax away 1991/92
The next video on YouTube is the 1991 Manx Cup game against Blackburn at TM. Hellish turn-out by both sets of fans.
The Halifax game was great. Definitely two red cards. Even then.
Evidently our fleetfooted winger was called Roger Francis.

You know.....no matter how much we look back and say disparaging things about players capabilities ... And how far we'd sunk,it was one big happy family in reality players and fans alike.there were some memorable away days.claretandy wrote:I was in the Trees behind the bus depot, great memories !

The noise from the Clarets fans is unreal. Don't really get that these days with half the travelling support being OAPs who moan if anyone stands up or sings.

Been desperately trying to get hold of some full match videos for years from 1991-92 and 1990-91.
Got plenty of full match videos from 1988-1993 plus a few from 1996-98 that I'll happily put to dvd in return.
Thanks.

I`d like to help you out, mate but as I`m in Japan and they`re in the UK it might prove problematic. I`ll email my sister though, as I suspect the tapes are in one of her cupboards.djemba-djemba wrote:HiroshimaClaret, please can you send me a quick email to padiham1949@gmail.com.
