Think he is still deliberating. As I said in a previous post we now have three wide men (plus Brady). Unless he shows his commitment soon he should be fourth choice to start out of the widemen choice

He is a vital member if the Burnley inner spirit. However, he probably has to decide 'fringe in/out Prem player - like most of the players in a prem squad - or regular first team in the Championship.

If we get to the Europa Cup....extra vital he stays.

Think it'd be best for both parties if he moved on to be honest.

We are a point clear despite having injuries and no wins. One win and we are safe and then we maintain our position with new impetus.

Voila!

He’s going.

Same as Barton and Boyd.

We’ll offer 1 year, he’ll get 2 or 3 elsewhere.

Great servant and one of my favourite players of the last few years. Purely in terms of what's best for him I think it's best he moves on to get regular first team football. Brady, Lennon, JBG all ahead of him and he never seems to get the nod for playing off the striker (arguably his best position). Would definitely need a solid replacement in the summer should he go though.

Mid table Championship player at best. Hope he goes.

Agree with that, I think behind the striker would be his best position.

Whatever happens I'll never forget this as long as I live!

Forever a Burnley Legend Scott.

He'll be able to get a very good deal as free agent somewhere else, because he's been so good for us.

I hope we offer him a long term deal, but he might want to play more than he is at the moment and that is the issue I think.

You will not see a more idiotic post. Won promotion automatically from the Championship twice with one winners medal and 80+ Premier League appearances.

Hope he stays but dont think he will as ultimately he will become more of a bit part player than he is now.

As long as we still have Mee, Heaton, Lowton, Ward, one of Vokes or Barnes we should be OK. But its important we dont shake things up too much!

On radio 5's Sportsweek programme yesterday morning the veteran sports journalist Patrick Collins described Scott Arfield as the Premier League's most under-rated technical player and someone who should have 50+ Scottish caps. Just saying, for his many critics on here. A real Claret hero for me who has typified the Dyche era in every way.

Get the feeling he's on his way. Think we've definitely had his best years, wouldn't be surprised if he disappeared without trace after leaving us.

Given Lennon at Swansea, he has just moved up the pecking order!

Bloody predictive text! I type one word and another gets printed!

Not on his back. Just demonstrating that a newcomer may well remain adrift of an integral squad member.

Lennon will learn.

If we can agree sensible terms he is worth keeping we cant afford 25 £13m players can we

I think we offered him the deal last summer but he's still to sign it which, of course, is his choice. Remains to be seen whether he opts to do what George Boyd did and move on.

George got injured early on at Wednesday but he put his career in decline leaving us.Scott might be better as a bit part player with us rather than a lower league regular

Arfield has already had an amazing career, so far. Anything after this is just gravy. I hope he signs a new deal for us as he is an incredibly handy player for us to have. Should he decide to move on, I hope he does really well, wherever he goes.

I'd love us to keep Scott. Excellent player, hugely underrated and I think its entirely possible that if he signs a new deal and we commit to the 4-5-1/ 4-3-3 model we've begun to adopt, he could find his best years with us are yet to come in that advanced midfield role.

But apart from that, he's a huge part of our culture and he'd leave a massive hole in the dressing room. I've worried for a while about how will retain our ethos once the likes of Arfield, Vokes and Mee begin to move on and the dressing room instead becomes dominated by players who can't quite remember how it all started. I'd prefer to defer finding out as long a possible.

Perfect squad player.
We haven't got this far by showing players like scotty the door,
As back up he still has plenty to offer us.
