Railway lines up north are a right mess.
There is a bit of a renaissance up north. And with links to Manchester (and Leeds) will only help Burnley. But You are right. The train network is a joke up here.
Took me well over an hour from Leeds to Sheffield!!! The towns, villages and cities are improving no end. But the train network is nothing short of a disgrace.
They have just spent 1bn in getting rid of the rattlers but we are still too far behind on public transport.
I do think with the prices in London (and the south) means its inevitable the north will 'rise'. Look at media city and others relocating to other industrial wastelands like Salford.
But Halifax is what it is. It isnt a Northern Shoreditch. Its a rejuvenating Northern shithole. In a good way I may add.
But Halifax is probably like Burnley, too insular to thrive. But lots of potential.
