Pardon my intrusion but would Asheville refer to Asheville, North Carolina? I'm planning a US trip early next year which will coincide with the Superbowl in Atlanta. One of the potential stops is Asheville!

I was in Asheville (N.C.) the summer before last as I was staying with a friend in the town of Highlands. That Biltmore place/village thingy there is rather good I thought.

I worked there for 4 months, well, nearby in Hendersonville. Beautiful scenery, the Blue Mountains. Incredibly `religious` though. Saying that, Asheville seemed rather more liberal. `Hannibal`the movie was filmed there whist I was in residence (at the Biltmore estate).

Tuesday night would be best.
Are you staying in Downtown?
There is "British cooking/pub" that shows games but if you are up for beer, there are some great places.

I watched the Semi Final with the Paterson and Thompson goals at the The Green Man, the brewery bit not the pub. They opened early on a Tuesday(?) afternoon just for us

We were labelled "Beer City USA" a few years ago. The number of breweries is astounding. We also are the eastern production facility for Sierra Nevada and New Belgium (some pretty big name brewers). While the surrounding area is pretty religious, Asheville is liberal (an outside politician called it a "cesspool of sin").
If any Burnley fans are passing through, shoot me a message and lets meet for a beer.
I am the lone Burnley fan in Western North Carolina.

Random, but I work with somebody who lives in North Carolina. He lives in the middle of nowhere, but it would be funny if we could get us all together.

If there's one thing you can always get in the States, it's a beer. May I recommend "Rolling Rock". It should be available because, although its roots are in upstate Pennsylvania, it's now brewed by Anhauser-Busch, the makers of Budweiser.

Also, take in Blowing Rock resort. Very posh.

My ex-wife is from Brevard, NC. Nice scenery up there and Asheville is a great place to visit. Get yourself down the Orange Peel if there are any decent gigs on.

I like Asheville in general. It's the only place I know where there's a class division between regular hippies and rich hippies.

I spent half a day in Brevard as it's part way between Highlands and Asheville. Not a lot there I thought! (Reminded me of Waterfoot!!!

Asheville also has one of the oldest minor league teams in American baseball, the Tourists. One of the final scenes in "Bull Durham" was filmed there.

And Burlington has more outlet malls than you can shake a stick at.

Ha. Lost my phone first night. Lots of beer. Did Wicked Weed, Funkarorium, Bharami and Burial. Didn't get a replacement until getting back to Winston Salem today. Hate I missed you. Good eats, good beer. Stayed at the A-Loft. Great location.
