Do you have any phobias?

We're all afraid of something, so what phobia do you have?
I'll be honest, I'm afraid of the sea. I think it's because I was stung by a jellyfish when I was a kid and it's just not being able to see what's below you when you're in the water. Also.. snakes!

Spending money
In all seriousness, needles.
I know most don't hurt, they're over and done with in seconds, but I just don't like watching a needle entering my skin, especially when giving blood for tests.
I have to always look away.
Bonus is, I'd make a terrible drug addict

Macca, I've been prodded more times than a bloody dartboard. I do look away, but bizarrely I actually find it a pretty nice feeling. The thing is - I don't like tattoos.

And an even worse diabetic
Think I must have gone past 50,000 injections by now

Birds (the flying kind, not the human variety). One got into the house as a small child and I'm scarred for life!

Snakes, Spiders, Insects just creepy bloody things.
Id rather be locked in a room with a pack of Lions than a harmless spider. By Lions I mean little cubs which are pretty damn cool.
The Sea.
Like Macca spending money. I save and set myself a target each month which I HAVE to hit or it really annoys me if I dont.

Yeah that too.
Think I've been lucky, as I can probably count the amount of injections I've needed since leaving school on my hands.

I've not managed to pluck up the courage ( some would say stupidity ) to get a tattoo.
It is on my bucket list, even if it's the tiniest tattoo ever in the most pain free & discreet place.
Has to be something meaningful to me and also look ok, if that's posdible, but that's another debate for another day.

I think if I were to get a tattoo it would be like you say, very meaningful. They can look absolutely horrid though if done in the wrong place.

Fairly routine phobias really.
Id hate to have a phobia of just random things like bubble wrap or tin foil.
I would say I hate the squeeking of polystyrene when trying to open an item like a tv. Not a phobia but it goes reyt through me.

It could be worse - you could have Phobophobia.
It's a phobia of actually having a phobia.

I've been to Gatorland in Florida - not sure if it's still there, as this was 1991.
They actually had a warning sign which said, "Trespassers will be eaten".
I thought it was brilliant.

I have a slight fear of flying. Why I don't know because I must fly 10 times or more a year.
It's not the machine thats the problem for me (that said - I would NOT get on certain aircraft - anything with a V in the manufacturers name seems to be a good starting point) but for me, it's the man in the front and his ability to fly it, which in this case seems like quite a sound phobia!

No.
There are a few things I don't particularly like (flying, dogs, flying dogs) but not phobia level.

Modern airliners practically fly themselves. I "flew" a 737 in a Boeing simulator recently and everything is so automated that it felt easier than flying some of the light aircraft I've been in
Automatic take off power, cruising speed, rudder control, braking, and landing systems.
I'm exaggerating of course about them flying themselves but believe me it's not the guy up front you need to worry about, it's the ZX Spectrum that's holding it all together

Yeah it's all good until something simple like a pitot tube gets iced over and the guys in the cockpit can't work out why they're doing 10,000 mph whilst the throttles are at idle and they're falling out of the sky...

Most people's phobia is from a fear of the unknown especially when talking about Sharks or Snakes. Fair do's if you live in Australia where you have a good chance of being killed by just about EVERYTHING in the wild
I had a confrontation with a snake in the jungle in Belize and on the same day came face to face with a Puma (Mountain Lion). I wouldn't delete either of those memories as they were both absolutely breath taking.
Snakes are fine behind a big thick sheet of glass. Then I am fascinated, bordering on hypnotised by them. I watched a Black Mamba in Regents Park zoo for about 20 minutes and had to literally drag myself away.
Due to my lack of skill I was also upside down in a canoe when a shark swam underneath. It wasn't big enough to frighten me BUT I was looking out for it's Mum or Dad for a fair while afterwards

Small spaces, time and death. Which probably in a weird way kind of explains my only other fear - flying. Don't know how I manage to do it so often. Usually a rake of ale sorts that one out

I have more a fear of airports rather than flying. They must have the biggest population of thick people of anywhere in the world.
They should be a pre airport where you have to complete simple tasks before being able to enter.

A strange one for me… I have a massive phobia of spiral staircases found inside castles, towers and a lookout vantage points. I particularly find the stone ones, in poorly lit spaces, difficult to navigate. I can comfortably run 10km in under 45 minutes… It once took me that amount of time to navigate a single descent of a spiral staircase in a stone-built tower in St. Andrews, Scotland.

You are not alone. Took the B-i-L to Blarney and he wouldn't go up the spiral staircase to the Blarney Stone.

This probably sounds even weirder - I'm comfortable, so long as they go anti-clockwise.
But I think it's more to do with OCD. When I control the volume on the TV it has to be divisible by 2.

Mine's a little odd, incredibly specific and has been with me for more than 20 years. Ironically, the only picture on this thread is one that perfectly illustrates it, while also making me feel physically sick (cheers FactualFrank

)
I've a genuine fear of people dressed as animals. Not in the Bertie bee sense, but when you can make out both human facial features as well as that of the animal. Makes my skin crawl.
I know, I'm weird.

Another wired one, the bottom of boats/ships whilst there in the water. The thought of swimming anywhere near one terrifies me. My daughter has a phobia of apple cores, she likes apples though, I just have to take the core out first.

Heights, stepping onto a thick carpet is enough.
Talking about sharks, I was once paddling in about 3 foot of water on coral in Sri Lanka. I was looking at pretty fish idly swimming past me when a black tip shark swam by.

My next door neighbours used to have two. If I ever went in they would be there. I can't cope with one even brushing past my leg to be honest and they had to shut them in another room.
