Hope the photos are viewable
If not check out on reelstreets
The below photos are still from the Ealing Comedy The Man in The White Suit released in 1951
Think the location has been identified as Ashfields Rd where the old Homebase was .. sure there was a thread on here about it awhile back
Can anyone confirm this or have family memories of the filming .. think a lot of the film including a lot of exterior shots were done in London ( Battersea etc) so doubt many actors came up ( tho that is Alec Guinness in the second still ) or the filming took that long !!

My mother never rated Alec Guinness as an actor.
Same year as The Lavender Hill Mob I believe.

My mum was one of the little kids playing in the above picture. She also was filmed opening the door for Alex Guinness but it was cut out of the final film

Were you told owt else about the filming etc .. I'm a bit of a "nerd "when it comes to film / tv locations , used to track down the minder locations when I was in London .. there's a site devoted to it .. but like reelstreets
Be fascinated if you know anything else re the film . I'm a big fan of old British films
Anyone else got any favourite old Brit movies ?

Sadly my mum has dementia now so finding out any more details will be difficult. She told me they was playing when a film crew asked them to keep on playing while they filmed them

Getting into the spirit of your reply, my mum didnt rate the chippy on Cog Lane but swore by the Harold Avenue one in the sixties.

Here's a Burnley clip from the film.
The shot is taken at the intersection of Piccadilly Rd and Albion St. looking down Albion St towards Trafalgar St.
I was a newspaper boy and used to deliver papers around this area.
Happy Days!
