Long dragged down.
Unbelievable by Madley.

Referees always seem to find a way against Burnley. I've lost count of the number of ridiculously poor decisions and mistakes from the officials in our games this season.

Can’t control ref decisions, Dyche can control tactics and use of subs etc , try looking there .

We are playing dire negative crap.
Injuries or not.
But in truth if it had stayed a 1-0 would we be moaning!!!

I certainly feel the referees try to guide the game in a certain direction at times. Like puppeteers.

I just wish we used our subs. Fresh legs must be better than those that have run for 70 mins.

We were in complete control. Southampton didn't look like they were going to score if the game went on for another couple of hours.

You can't legislate for the referee fouling one of our players, especially that late in the game.
It was just one of those things, thankfully it's not going to cost us too dearly.

The amount of running Wood was doing on he touchline I don’t think would have been very fresh

Once the ref blocked Westwood we were on the back foot. You could just see it happening, it was just so inevitable. Someone should have chopped their lad down and taken one for the team.

Naivety allowed the goal more than anything
Westwood and Cork had opportunities to bring the lad running through the middle down, but neither took their chance. We seriously need to learn when to make a good foul

Naivety - lack of experience, wisdom, or judgement.
Yes Bobby Madley was very Naive.

The ref getting in the way was a rarity, granted, but we were just too bloody nice. Chop him down and have some pushing and handbags. Opportunity lost.

Yet Pope was the busier GK including a worldie of a tip onto the post...
1-1 was a fair result IMO. Saints certainly were adventurous.

The referee didn't just get in the way, he looked to be deliberately obstructing him. He should have stopped the game once he realized that Southampton had won possession and re-started with a drop ball. That was just so unfair.

Actually a good idea. He should have just grabbed him and thrown him aside. He would have been sent off and banned for a few games but it would have been worth it. It would have been quite entertaining to see as well.

All the officials are against BFC they don't want us in the PL, didn't you know? Next game we're gonna see the ref curl a worldie in from 30 yards and it'll be given as an off the ball freak incident and everyone on here will toss each other off in sync whilst frothing at the gash over the conspiracy theories.

How about we just keep the ball from our corner on 89 minutes in the corner. Win a series of throw ins/ corners and all that happened wouldn't have had. Lunacy throwing it into the box.

I thought the rules were if the Ref makes a 100% obstruction that then develops in to a BIG advantage to the opposition, then he calls the play back for a drop ball? Also from where i was looked a handball for the goal.

Southampton took advantage of the ref getting in the way of our play and we were out of position. These things happen, but if we had been a bit more adventurous before hand we could have already put the game to bed.
Away from home at Southampton we were under pressure and the manager puts an extra striker on, why not do it again home when we were winning?

I don't think so. The referee is effectively part of the pitch in these instances.
I seem to remember Graham Poll getting in the way in a Cup Semi Final a few years ago, which led to a goal.
There was no bringing play back in that example either.

I don't think so. As I recall it the ref has no influence in play....like he doesn't really have a physical presence. I'm fairly sure that even if a rebound off the ref results in a goal would mean the goal stands.

Madeley did nothing wrong standing his ground. If he'd moved and got in the way we'd have a right to be upset. What ticks me off is that refs don't understand football, they only know the rules. If they knew the game they would see where the play was going and get away from the action.
We had a ref one game where Jones would receive the ball, immediately turn left to lay it to Ward or Arfield and the ref was stood there every time.
We do need to put some time in on seeing out the game. I'm happy to see us trying to pass it rather than just launching it but do it in their half.
