Trouble yes, lots of it.
Wolves definitely won the league that season at a canter, think Cardiff went up with them automatically.

Wasn’t it Cardiff and Bolton who went up automatically?
I remember them singing about getting promoted, whilst our fans were singing back about going to Wembley.

They seem to be walking the wrong way for there to be trouble all over the town, or was that before the game?

Wolves won the division (plus they beat us in the Sherpa Van Final at Wembley) and Cardiff, Bolton and Swansea also went up.

Lots of trouble that day. I was playing cricket at Towneley and ended up going up through the park to Worsthorne and over to Briercliffe back to Nelson as the police had roads blocked round Tod Rd, Belverdere Rd, Yorkshire St etc.

Don’t remember any actual trouble at all that day. Remember them chucking misiles coins etc at the Burnley fans when we went on the pitch . They we’re well
penned in and heavily escorted to and from ground with roads blocked off all over . Lots of trouble that season though esp at the Bolton games in fact pretty much everywhere

Cardiff's promotion must have been relatively short lived as we played them again in our 91/92 promotion campaign.

I'm an out of towner and used to park on the Irish league back then (IDLSC back then ?).
Was that the usual escort up belvedere Rd for big followings back to central station?
Remember in the 90s a huge escort wolves escort near west way / hammerton st. And Huddersfield getting marched up and down parliament street at a very slow pace. Wigan too after the Ian Wright game getting escorted up plumbe st.

Used to park coaches up the side of Queens Park so probably escort back to the coaches.

Remember the Wigan escort mayhem after that match under culvert.

I didn't think I could make it to that game but at the last minute I ended up being able to go.
A few of us went in the Cricketfield with the Wigan fans as incredibly it was pay on the gate. The big jobbies were escorting Burnley fans out of there all through the first half.
It was like a who's who of Nelson old boys in there.

That was the game where the Cardiff goalkeeper was at the Bee Hole End and had to run like **** for the tunnel as Burnley fans ran on the pitch, he swerved a few swinging legs, poor lad

Poor lad? He turned and flashed V's after they scored the winner. Fair play to him though, he could run.

£2.50 to get on the longside that day. A family member who lived away came up to get their tickets for Wembley and went on. Still have their ticket for the Cardiff game and the official sherpa van t-shirt the club was selling.

Why did we play under the Culvert?

Problem with Wigan was their fans getting to Plumbe street without an escort.
They were then taken up Plumbe street and down Parliament street at a slow pace.

It was offside but the linesman couldn't flag because Burnley fans had perviously invaded the pitch and there were loads in front of him. I think, if memory serves, the referee abandoned the game at this point because it was impossible to continue.

I weren't aware of him flicking the v's. In that case .... him

I remember the game because I'd won what was then the claret and blue bond! Got presented with a cheque for £500 on the pitch at half time. Think it was Joyce Pickles who presented it!

Good video. All those ADULTS on the pitch now sit in the Bob Lord or JHU and boo when the kids run on the pitch at the end of the season
