Palazzo is the best by far

Someone said Aldos up near the sorting office is decent, although I've never been.
Ive been Pollazzo a few times and it's ranged from excellent, decent enough to then under par.

I don't know why it's so varied, so often.

If you are just after a quick pizza then go to Carlos in Colne which is right next to the Municipal theatre where Joey is. That`s what a few of us are doing tomorrow night.

None.

Aldo's, Nino's, Palazzo all distinctly average on a good day. The cafe which used to be golden fish is OK, best of a bad bunch but none mindblowing.

Very hard to get good italian anywhere round here at all. Even in Italy itself its either very good or crap.

Well that’s just sorted out the whole of the cuisine in Italy then.

Palazzo is awful. Avoid.

Ninos at Fighting Cocks is very, very good.

Mama Mias in Padiham is excellent food, despite the feel that you're in someone's front room.

Never been to Aldos.

Nay lad tha might as well stay in Scotland and search for the loch ness monster!

There's nowt decent to eat in Colne tha nose! Get a pie on the train down! Save thy sen some money and heartburn.

There's a good chippy across from oddies on Scotland road in Nelson, right near Ozzies bike shop tha nose.

If nothing else will do, then go to Carlos the deep fried pasta is a treat tha nose!

Palazzo pisses all over mama mias...what a dump.that place is

Palazzo - nice building / sh-it food
Mamma Mia's - sh-it building / decent food.

Mamma Mia has always been first class when I have been there but that comes with the caveat that I was last in the building in 1983 when it was just called Crossways. Back in those days I thought spaghetti that didn't come out of a tin was the height of exotica.
Big shout for Aldo's. The service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The Loom Makers does more than Italian but is another decent venue with great management and staff. It's all personal choice and can depend on whether the chef is having an off day but I wasn't impressed the last time I went to Carlo's.
Enzo's was great when it opened in Burnley town centre back in the dim and distant past.

Been to all and Aldos is the best for me. Run by good people, great food and atmosphere.

Palazzo for me.

Been 10+ times and never been disappointed.

Wait can be a little long if it’s rammed.

Palazzo is overpriced IMO, stylish look to the place but the food is nothing special. Don't rate the service either tbf. Aldo's is better but still not the greatest, there are plenty of average Italian restaurants in East Lancs but not that many that are good.

Opposite experience for me to the last poster - been to Palazzo 4 or 5 times (work do's mainly, and once when couldn't find anywhere else free late one night) and only once has the food and/or service been anything half decent. Generally the food has been crap, but I guess it depends what you're after. Never been to Aldo's, Enzo was far worse than the hype it had been given before trying it. Only been to Nino's once - food was ok actually but atmosphere (as Palazzo) is too fake for me and too many ego's knocking around. Shame Belissimo's isn't open at night because that pi55es on the rest

Mondellos in Crawshawbooth is brilliant. Really small place so worth ringing first, food is top notch and service excellent

It did yes but changed owners a couple of years ago I believe

Had a reasonable meal in the Plazzo was only 4 tables in probably due to the weather wasn’t the cheapest for what we had but was nice enough

And is the Baltic Fleet still open? I haven't been in a good knife fight for a long, long time.

Little Italian gaff in Whalley won an award at the national Italian restaurant food shebang for its pasta. Nono's recipe - remarkably good. Just that no one goes.

Average pizzas and bad service coupled with the fact they only take cash and dont deliver. It must be the novelty of such bad service that keeps this place going.

Its no wonder tripe and black pudding is so popular up here. People will eat owt in burnley.

Aye bad service and bad food have kept it going for more than 30 years - spot on there

Might suggest a chain of sh-it food restaurants and bad service on Dragons Den....sounds a winner !

Some folk just dont know a good pizza thats all. Plenty of them in fact.

Each to their own taste....Enzo's have outlasted all the other places in Burnley for a reason. It's a bit of cheeky assumption to assume it's because "Burnley folk don't know a good pizza".

The owners are a well respected Sicilian family and it says something that the Italians and Sicilians living round here think that they are the best.

The pizzas in Sicily are I agree better. Real Italian traditional pizza is actually nothing like the pizza made in this country - it's a much lighter doughier type base....plus the tomatoes over here are like a completely different fruit to ones n Sicily / Italy.

My 2 penneth regarding Enzos...

I'm not saying it's not an edible pizza however, its not all it's hyped up to be IMO.

They must account for 90% of burnt double chins that occur in the Burnley area of a weekend.
As soon as you bite into the slice, the topping just pulls straight off. You end up with a box of slushy toppings in a box/a burnt chin/stained clothing.
I'm aware that you could eat with a knife and fork, but a lads poker night, boxing or footy night in doesn't include eating off plates using cutlery.

My mates rave about it and depending who's hosting, and if we have a none drinker, it's ALWAYS the food outlet they use.
Safe to say I always just get a bag of chips.

My mates, dad, and family love it there, however I'm not just as keen.
Possibly just a couple of average visits has put me off, as well as the fact I've moved away and almost always drink at weekends so don't travel to get my food.

I must add, the Family are lovely people, and I have plenty of time for them as people, I just don't choose to eat there for various reasons.

Edit - I've possibly only eaten from there once in over a decade, so it possibly has changed.

Me and my son went to see Joey last night(was brilliant btw)- theres a place called Tubbs in Colne just down the road from the muni- amazing food- v friendly owner and not too expensive- would recommend !!!

Tubbs is the guys who used to run Turners in Barrowford.

Yep decent food and nice owners - was there a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon.

Given the weather it would make sense to go to Carlos which is next door to the Muni.
It's not great, but it's not expensive midweek. (Not been for a while but there used to be deals on).
Service was poor last time we went, so haven't returned, but given circumstances, location and weather I would give it a go tonight personally.

Surprised nobody has mentioned bellissimos opposite boot yet not obvious but first class.

This. Best by a country mile, just don't go expecting pizza, lasagne et al.

This all sounds like the old "Soup Nazi" episode from the Seinfeld show. "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" Talk about bad service.

Never had a bad meal at Palazzo slightly pricy but worth it IMHO.

It's true that they don't deliver (more authentic), only take cash and you are very lucky to get a smile. But I think their pizzas are excellent and they are remarkably consistent with the quality,taste and lack of a smile. Same family been running this little take away for over 30 years and I go for the very high standard of pizza or pasta. Don't care about service (you're only going to collect an order) of lack of a happy greeting.

The flavour makes me smile.

...and the Sparrow Hawk in Fence before that- all three have been good

Last time I went to Tubbs for a drink with my mother, said owner came out with blankets as we were sat outside
