He was very unlucky with injury as he was potentially a good signing and when he did play he did well. His penalty cock up (slip! ) against Leicester didn't help his case with the rank and file as it had a massive bearing on our subsequent relegation and thus all in all he tends to get bracketed with the Reid and Walters crowd which is probably somewhat unfair.

We'll see, but Walters doesn't look like the greatest use of our dry powder just at this moment. He has all the hallmarks of an injury prone, ageing (once more than decent) pro who may make a few cameo appearances for far more than decent wages before quietly move off to league one. HOWEVER, I do hope that proves to be wrong.

Got to disagree he had the balls to take it. Our goal scorer at the time who had failed to score In a few didn't step up.when relegated pressure off he started banging em in.

Ings and Vokes had been sharing them and Taylor was a long standing recognised penalty taker.

I do agree with you. It may have come across that I did't, but I was just suggesting that others might have found and issue with him feeling he was a waste of a signing pretty much from the start due to his lack of fitness and then the penalty was just the icing on the cake for them, but personally I don't see it like that. When he featured he played well and the penalty was very unfortunate. (Walters I do see differently tbh. Well with his apparent concern at not scoring for a while you would thought he'd step up? I'm sure he's scored for Liverpool from the spot. No proof.I wouldn't hold it against matty Taylor for missing is my main point.

Yes Walters maybe unfortunate with his injury. But I admired his aerial challenge against stoke? He just bounced back up...apart from that not a lot really .

Totally agree re: Taylor, he slipped, end of.
It was this tale, I've heard repeated so often on here, that Ings refused or backed out of taking it that I was querying.

I’m watching Swindon at Cambridge in a couple of weeks. I might join in with ‘Matt Taylor’s red and white army’.

He did well for us and seems to be a decent bloke.

Ings definitely said he didn't want to take it - Taylor was the one with the balls who stepped up.

That goal at Forest was a cracker.

Scored a great freekick v Brum a point towards our prpmotion that season.A class player with a very good left foot(not wand thats Harry Potter)

That goal and the Birmingham one bought us two points. Vital stuff, not just for the points but for the team spirit and confidence it inspired in the squad.

Although we ended on a brilliant high with the 23 unbeaten run, we started with difficulty and weren't gelling as a side. Talents and characters like Taylor pulled us through until we hit form.

I certainly wouldn't hold it against him, I think we were pretty much dead and buried by then anyway. If he had scored it may have simply prolonged the agony. A player who contributed crucial goals and effort to our subsequent promotion season back from the Championship. Good luck to him at Swindon.

Never seen such quality corners taken so quickly under so much pressure.

Scored some winners for us.

Wish Matt all the best, a good pro, hopefully he can carry that into management. Really hope it works out for him.
