Apparently won’t celebrate if he scores tomorrow, strange decision

He went through a tough time whilst at Everton and the fans and club were very supportive, and he's only just moved.

I can understand it.

I doubt he will be needing to worry about any celebration whilst tucking in on the half-way line :D

He didn't say he wasn't going to try a score though.

Sam Vokes & Danny Ings didn't celebrate when they scored in the FA Cup for Burnley at Southampton and Jay Rod didn't celebrate in the same game. I've seen similar with Payton and Mullin at Burnley too.

He's just showing respect to those Everton fans who were always so supportive of him.

Having said that, personally I think they should just get on with it. When Charlie Austin scored against us last season he celebrated and when asked after the game he just said: "I don't play for Burnley no more."

Barring injuries I think he would have had a more illustrious career because he has that single minded approach.

But taking into account the "love in" that some people on this board still have with Ings, IF he scored against us for Liverpool and celebrated in any way he would get dogs abuse. Yet they can't accept another player showing a bit of respect for a previous club.
For what it's worth I think any player should celebrate scoring a goal regardless of who it was against.

Correct attitude, in my view. Fair enough, Lennon's may be a special case, cos
as said further up, he's had a really tough time.

But just not to celebrate because you used to play for the club on the
wrong end of your goal is quite fanny-ish.

Don't care what he does after he scores, just as long as he scores!

Some of these top players have had multiple clubs in their careers, best they just get on and celebrate with the fans who are currently contributing to their rather luxurious lifestyles!
If I could see a reason for exception it would be not celebrating when scoring against your home-town club, or the club that developed the player into a PL standard footballer.

Not really the same though.

And Charlie Austin is a bit of a dick.

Let's hope Cutsy's gambling logic doesn't apply to Michael Keane shall we :?

If Lennon is happy for Burnley to win, he should celebrate; if he would rather Everton won, he should not celebrate. I can understand him not running round like Mickey Mellon against Blackpool, but if he can't even look pleased for a debut goal for his new club, it looks odd.

he's on several thousand pounds a week , not much chance of him scoring, most fans earn a pittance.
I don't care about his respect for everton, i just want goals from anybody.

I'm a bit confused as to whether Tony doesn't like the truth, Eric Clapton or criticism of a forward he considers the best since Willie Irvine.

It'd be nice to know which one it is.

BoT I’m guessing it was reported because it was a slanderous inference about a player, which could get the message board into serious trouble if left up.

You see that's how easy it is. You should become a Mod Rick.

It was only an Eric Clapton tune though, the other two were 100% factual. :)

Just do what Jimmy mac, Ray pointer, John Connelly, etc did. As you run back to the half way line ... shake your team mates hand and get on with it.

As soon as football pussies stop with the sentiment, maybe we'll have a winning mentality once again.

I don't give a toss who someone used to play for, who used to play for us etc

Wade Elliott could come back and play against us tomorrow and I'd gladly tear his heart out and feed it to the dogs whilst he was wearing an opposition shirt.

Whenever I see a thread about "should we cheer such and such/will you applaud..." no you ******* shouldn't. Give them a clap after the match if you want but once they're playing against us, they're the biggest threat to worry about.

They (footballers) never used to celebrate in an exuberant way. A shake of the hand of fellow team mates is enough.

If he does this, and then doesn't do that, I might say this.

Only on this message board!

I don’t even know why this is a thread. He’ll be playing in the double left back position with Wardy again.

I’ve no problem with people not celebrating, providing they’re still giving 110% while playing.

Didn’t Andy Payton score against us for Barnsley once? He looked like his head was going to explode, he was that annoyed about it.
