Re: Premier League average squad age
We’re not doing bad with this one.
Of the six ‘youngest’ squads, Liverpool, Spurs and City can afford the best young players. The other three, on budgets closer to ours, could each yet be relegated.

Ward & Heaton over 30, anyone else?
Maybe the spare GK's.
Wouldn't take much to drop that average down a bit.

Team average is more relevant but that looks good for Newcastle & Huddersfield, if they stay up.

Re: Premier League average squad age
26/27/28 is basically the range. Not a big thing, not like you get past it as you move over these years- especially with modern dietary control/training methods/treatment of injuries etc.
The old belief is that defenders/mf take a bit longer to peak than attackers (I guess building up experience re positional play/when to tackle etc for defenders versus sheer verve for moving around in attackers).
Looking at the d.o.b of the players we had out there on Saturday (doesnt really matter whether Wood or Hendrick is included- both are very similar age), average is around 27 years, 10 months.
Our 2 spare keepers are knocking on 32 and 34 (Leg & Lin), Walters & Marney both 34 +. So we have non-players pulling up the squad average by a few months.

Re: Premier League average squad age
If you look at our major signings in the last few years - the age is almost always below that average

Think we have a healthy balance. Just be thankful we don't still have Paul Robinson on the books

Man City, 22, that’s scary.
