Wolves - Can They be Caught?

Over recent weeks their once seemingly insurmountable lead is down to 3 points. With Villa, in third, just 7 points behind.
I'd really like to see them blow it.

In my opinion(and experience)they are the least friendly of the West Midlands Clubs, Fan-Wise. It wouldn’t be a disappointment if they did **** it all up at the last hurdle.

Yes they could be caught.

Depends what happens tonight and on the game at weekend when they play Villa. If Villa win, it’s certainly on.

I've always tried to attend the Burnley v Wolves fixture regardless of division with a friendly pre match chat in a pub always resulting in a few laughs.
Villa v Wolves on Saturday which will be an interesting one.

I know you treat as you find and sometimes you can be lucky or unlucky in terms of which home fans you come across. But I would add that going to Villa or West Brom has always been much more pleasant than a trip to Birmingham or Wolves.

The away end at wolves is truly awful, only West Ham is worse in the distance you are from the pitch. I would be very happy indeed if they bottled it.

After watching them run around social media for this last season declaring they've broken no rules of any sort and talk about how massive they are it would be hilarious if they missed out on promotion.
They're also convinced they'd be a force in the PL, which reminds me of Boro the other year.

I remember in the late 80's when they had two of the stands closed.

They are forever moving us - it's not so bad behind the goal in the Jack Harris Stand. It's acceptable at the other end in the Stan Cullis (on the one occasion we were in there) up in the Gods but on the side in the Steve Bull Stand it is dreadful. As thelaughingclaret says, it is too far from the pitch and you are too low to get any decent perspective. Then to make the matters worse, last time we went we had a low sun in our eyes for the entire first half.

If Dirty Leeds play like they did at Boro, they'll get battered.

No issue with Wolves (or for that matter Villa).

Unlikely as it is I think it would be better for us if Cardiff take one of the places as I suspect Wolves and Villa will be a bigger draw when competing with players.

I think it's moved around a lot. The one time I went was 2007 or 08. We were behind the goal and Kightly scored for Wolves and Clarke Carlisle was sent off. Can't even remember the score, but that awful Deadman referee was in charge and his usual woeful worst.

hopefully Wolves will screw it up - if they come up they'll buy a new team for 400 million

Current league table. Which 3 teams would you prefer to go up?

Fulham for the away weekend, PNE for the local interest.
Not fussed about who else.

From a Burnley perspective it would be the three teams that we have the best chance of getting 18 points from.

I wouldn't like to see Wolves or Preston go up. No matter how superior they are.

Bristol City, Preston and Fulham, but it's going to be the current top 3 I reckon.

If it had to be wolves or villa, despite the money you would have to say wolves. Villa would be the bigger draw of the two. To be fair they will both big a big challenge for us. Just have to hope that the current bottom three stays as is!

Amusing to see comments about the money they'd spend and the challenges they'd present us.

No guarantee of either from Wolves, they're just as likely to flop as they are to survive.

Not to mention the disgrace of a pitch.

Cardiff, Villa Fulham and Middlesbrough all hitting a bit of form. As are Millwall who are just outside the top 6.

Would prefer Fulham or Bristol City to go up. Not keen on others. We always get beaten at Cardiff and I used to get sick of seeing Wolves beating us in the lower divisions.

Any Indian Sign Wolves used to have on us certainly disappeared when we sent them down at their place, five years ago.

I think both Wolves and Villa are teams we have found difficult to get results in the time I have watched us. Villa was nearly always a defeat at their place with some form of result here but in 1962 I think after we won at Villa we then won perhaps just one game in the run in that cost us the league title.
I also recall drawing at Villa in the ?6th round of the FA Cup with us nailed on to win at the Turf, but we lost-think it may have been in 1957 when Villa beat Utd in the Final

We don't have a good record against Wolves, that's for sure. Our post war league record against them is;
Home: W 11 D 13 L 17
Away: W 10 D 9 L 22

But Villa is an interesting one.
It's not so good away
W 5 D 3 L 15
But at home
W 17 D 6 L 0

Villa's only success at the Turf this side of World War II was in an FA Cup tie in the 1950s.

I remember the coaches parking about a mile from the ground and having a police escort both ways with the "Subway Army" in close attendance.

Huddersfield did it last Season, so you never know.

Like to see North End go up. I have lost count the near misses this century

I'd like to see them miss out in the play offs to a 98th minute offside handball goal having been 3-0 up at half time

Leeds were total crap last night with the inability to string two passes together. The ref was also dire and introduced an unusual concept in bias, an away blower.Favouring every Wolves tackle and denying Dirty Leeds two stonewall penalties as Baath dragged opponents down in rhe box
That said its great to see little Leeds of the lower league losing. But Wolves are a product of massive spending and with the Holy Ghost as manager I think they might go up.Ive no time for either Villa or Wolves and its a sad day for the rest of the Championship when money buys success.
