Definitely Nailsworth then, my first thought was Yeovil - around the 30k mark population wise.

I thought Forest Green were in the Conference and that's why I didn't say Nailsworth.

Accrington 35k
Fleetwood 25k
So it's got to be Nailsworth, you could virtually get the entire population in the ground.

I think that Nailsworth is smaller. And plus Rushden are in the Conference.

IF AFC Fylde make the football league (& they probably will in next 2-3 years) Kirkam has a population of 7194 so smaller than Forest Green

When I was about 16 I played against both Irthlingborough Diamonds and Rushden Town before they joined up to become Rushden and Diamonds

Went to Nailsworth once, just before they moved to their new ground financed by that vegetarian bloke. Up a ruddy great hill, makes Holt House look like it is at sea level. Had the worst fish & chips ever down in Nailsworth village. Wouldn't want to go there again.

Rushden & Diamonds are a long way from the Conference - they play in the Evo-Stik League South East which is four levels below the Conference.

FGR in Nailsworth. About half the size of Padiham. Stuck in a valley with steep hills either side. To get to the ground you have to leave the town and keep walking up, and up ... then up some more.

Well, if either of our two teams ever hit the big time here on Scilly, then you'll find we could fit the combined population of all 5 islands into the Jimmy Mac Lower.

But let's take one game at a time.

Is it true that Wakefield is the BIGGEST town NOT to have a team in the league?

I think it is the largest town/city not to have a League club.

I think it depends how you define the boundaries.
Croydon is an alternative I believe. Is Crystal Palace in Croydon? (Depends what boundary / criteria you are using).

I think Burnley is actually the second smallest club in the entire top two divisions with around a 73k population.....with Burton being the smallest which is in the 60 odd thousand population range.....

It depends what you count.
Falmer has a premier league club and a population of about 300.

If it was called Falmer FC and originated in Falmer I would agree with you....but I’m guesssing one or two of the Brighton fans may have followed the club when they moved....just like Bolton fans did

Dudley's in the Black Country. It's a real hodgepodge of towns and cities. My best friend's parents when I was growing up were from the Black Country. (Stourbridge).

Bath is big in rugby union. Bigger than Bristol. Not sure how big the actual town is.

Bath's another of those that depends on what you include.
Population at last census was 88,000, but "greater Bath" is about 175,000.
So population of actual city is similar to Wakefield but Metropolitan area is much smaller.
