Black pudding by a distance. If I'm allowed, I'd like to throw Irish white pudding into the debate...

Sheep brains.... 'ewe'!!!

I had a Sheep Brain dish mixed with egg in Romania... I'd prefer Black Pudding to be honest, I actually really like Black Pudding.

I'd try it again, but I remember not being wholey keen at the time. I finished it though.

I was once told that all black pudding is radioactive. I tried a spoonful once, and started to glow in the dark, so it must be true.

It tastes good, a rich source of iron and other minerals and protein.

Pretty much why humans eat food.

Of course the health benefits  id best get cows heart, tripe and bone marrow ordered for tea tomorrow. Excellent nutritional value ( except I wouldn't feed it to a dog unless there was a war on of course)

You said that you couldn't understand why anyone wants to eat Black Pudding, so I gave you the reasons.

Love black pudding, probably eat too much of the stuff.

Tried sheeps brains once, quite tasty but couldn't take the mushy texture.

Black pudding is a food of the gods imo.Great fried in a full English but at its finest boiled and served with English mustard .

White pudding good too had it in NI few times and hopefully it isn’t made of sheep jizz as is rumoured?

Had sheeps brains in Egypt once and just tasted like spiced jellyish meatball, unless I’d ordered to spruced jelly meatball by mistake..

Good to see someone knows how to prepare black pudding - has to be boiled.

I like black pudding... yet for some reason I've no need to know what is actually in it... same for haggis (which I think is very similar but a bit spicier). Same goes for a lot more other products...

A particular Gif from Frasier sums up my thinking quite nicely

I`ve been a vegetarian for over 20 years now but if I ever reneged on my promise to all the wonderful animals of the world, I`d be tucking into a black pudding quick sharp (with lashings of vinegar to boot)! I used to absolutely love `em when I was a kid.

Black pudding every time.....has to be eaten hot from Donald Smiths in Burnley market with salt vinegar pepper and English Mustard.
Food of the Gods.
As an added bonus a good chat with Donald about Burnley FC or putting the World to rights.

John Mahoney was from Blackpool so probably a big black pudding fan.

Not strictly true. Simmered. Boiling it ruins it as theyre already cooked.

Boil the water. Turn it down to simmer when it reaches boiling. Put the black pudding in for fifteen minutes.

They do veggie ones on Burnley market. Not quite the same but surprisingly good. Made with beetroot rather than blood.

My mum always buys me one when i visit. They have the real deal whilst I have the `animal-friendly` one :) It`s nowt like but will do. Just the same with haggis - a veggie option has been commandeered but there is nothing like the real deal...magnificent food!!!! ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see this is what really pisses me off. If you want to be a veggie, fine, do it. But don't try to make your food look like real food. Veggie sausages, veggie burgers and now veggie black puddings FFS.

And here's another thing. In general (but not always) veggies and vegans lean towards the sandal wearing persuasion, but do they not realise that all that lentil and legume munching actually increases the threat of global warming?

I’ve never had any of the above.....I remember my Dad used to have black pudding when I was a kid and I didn’t like the smell at all so never tried it....! Think it may be time to at least give these things a go....!

I like meat but I also like vegetarian sausages and burgers and mince ( not tofu which is awful). Can't see the problem with them. Veggies can eat what they like.

Sorry, CT, but it's gently fried in olive oil for me, served with a dollop of HP sauce. Yum.

But, every bit as good at the very least...

Cornish Hogs Pudding, served as above. WOW!

QUESTION.
I saw haggis mentioned above and I've only had it once, when very young, but aren't white pudding and haggis very similar?
